What are they going to do with this guy? Hes too small to play DE in the 3-4

I heart Matt Roth. I've been a huge fan of his since his Iowa days. That being said, I have no clue as to what will happen with him. Maybe a move to the inside as a LB?

Last I heard he was up around 290. BTW nobody has said were swithching D's yet anyway.

I think Roth will be fine at end, even in the 3-4.

As was posted previously he supposedly bulked up over 290 or so last year. I can see him being used as a pass rush specialist. He's the kind of non-stop guy that Parcells will love, even if he's not the typical Parcells player from a size standpoint.

No way he can play inside linebacker or even outside linebacker. From what i've seen, Roth seems slow. He really hasnt lived up to the hype. I didnt notice any improvement from his second year to third. What ever Miami has in their plans for Roth, this could be a make or break year.

He has absolutely no chance of fitting in to the defense they OBVIOUSLY building.

Vonnie Holiday doesn't fit either. The End's should be at the very least 300 lbs. At his age Holiday probably isn't going to try to bulk up.

They both need to be traded.

Fifita probably gets cut if we draft a couple guys like Trevor Laws or Dre Moore or Jason Shirley.

Chase Page could probably beef up a little and make it at end. He has outstanding speed for a big guy and if he could be effective against the run he might be a good fit.

Rod Wright needs to take his career more seriously and put on some muscle this offseason or he won't start, and he has the talent to start.

Moses doesn't fit either but he doesn't have any trade value and I don't think he has the skills to play the hybrid, but who knows. Somebody has to back up JT.

This is why I really don't want to see JT traded; not only do we not have a replacement for him, we don't have a good backup either. If JT gets traded then we need two guys that can play that position.

You are in total denial if you don't think we are playing in a 3-4 this year.

Edit: Matt Roth will be fine in our defense also. Everyone is so caught up in "he's this weight instead of this weight" that it's almost as if players play because of their weight. Everyone thinks you need to be 350+ pounds to play nose tackle when Jason Ferguson weighs in at 310-315 pounds. What good is weight if you completely suck at that weight? I'd rather have a good 290 pound Matt Roth than a crappy 300 pound Matt Roth. Weight is very overrated around here...

I'm sorry yopu must have seen us play already this year.:rolleyes2: Saprano said we would run what system fits our players best all knowing one.

You're right, I'm sure getting Paqolini, Parcells, the rest of the Cowboys defensive staff, and Jason Ferguson point towards a 4-3.:rolleyes2:

Edit: And our players "fit" a 3-4 defense.
Porter, Taylor, Ferguson, Holliday, Torbor, Crowder, Starks, and R. Wright all fit in a 3-4 nicely. And I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, I just think the writing is on the wall.

Furgeson is only 312. For you 3-4 enthusiest that is way undersized for a NT.

I met Roth in Scirocco's in Leicester Square London the night after the Giants game. I met him in the mensroom where he was giving the African aftershave/handwash guy a hard time and kept calling him "homes".

I didn't know who he was other than that he was a BIG yank and said "just call him G" which the handwash guy seemed to prefer, "yeah, call me G". Only then did I double take and said "wait a minute, are you Matt Roth" to which he replied "f*** yeah I'm Matt Roth"

I asked him to prove it and show me his flame tattoo to which he ripped of his shirt - I can confirm he is one BIG SOB and was a real funny guy - I'm from Scotland and he said his mum's maiden name was "Highland" which I laughed at - Mrs Highland - don't think he's the smartest but we woz real drunk - got a pic on my phone that I'll try and post....think he was with Camarillo and some offensive line scrubs but it had got real fuzzy by then...

I remember being excited to have Roth @ #2, but I have to admit he has been a dissapointment. I've seen some of his clips and I have to question his heart. He looks scared at times. I remember him being a beast in Iowa, but hasn;t lived up to expectations. Is it possible to get a 2nd round pick for him at this time????

What the heck did you think he played in Dallas? That's right the NT spot in the 2 gap 3-4. They've signed FA's that have been miscast in a 4-3, and have told draft prospects they are running the 3-4.

Parcells could run butt nekkid carrying a 3-4 flag around here and some folk still wouldn't notice.

Matt Roth was supposedly playing with a groin injury all year which could be a reason why we didn't see any improvement.

Ferguson played 3-4 NT in Dallas. That's what I mean when I say people overrate weight. If your technique sucks and you are a 350 pound NT, you will be much less successful than a 310 pound NT with great technique. Why are you so down on the 3-4 anyways? Some of the best defenses of late have played in a 3-4...
