Matt Schaub???

Those who cry AJ need to understand that teams thought so well of AJ that he went in the 5th round of the draft. Schaub went in the 3rd. Draft position doesn't always mean a lot, but it is a good sign if you ask me.

no, we cant keep taking back-ups, and hope to turn them into the next tom brady, just draft a qb like jacobs, or leinart

Any Chance Miami tries to go after him next offseason or will we Draft a QB. And should have we taken a better look at him last offseason or b4 he was drafted

perhaps I am wrong, but he is available right now...

Whoops...my bad...I was thinking of Matt Mauck...

Schwab looks like he could be a solid quarterback. If he's a free agent, that might be the type of player Saban looks to. Next offseason will be very interesting because the team has to find a quarterback for the future, not just a stopgap guy. My guess is that they will draft someone, but not necessarily in the first round. A lot will depend on who declares for the draft, but I think Saban might be tempted to go for one of the top LT's if they are picking in the top 10 (which seems likely). And it's never a bad idea to build the line, that's a huge part of the problem here.

I was kind of suprized to see us not pickup Matt Mauck. He was released by Denver and he used to play for Saban at LSU

Saban is smart enough not to make the mistake of Spurrier and bring in all his ex-players. Just because he had success with a guy in college does not mean the pros will work the same. It requires different and better skills to be successful in the NFL, and apparently Saban knows that both Davey and Mauck aren't NFL passers.

If Matt Schaub was avaible as FA i think Saban might try to get him considering he is younger and is part of a west coast offense, but i doubt Atlanta wants to get rid of him.

I highly doubt that Matt Schaub will be a FA next year. He was drafted last year and I don't think that he was signed to a two year contract (but I could be wrong). However, he is available now ... at the right price. I guarantee you that if we sent a first rounder to Atlanta, we'd see Matt tomorrow. I'm not suggesting that we do that, I'm just making a point that at the right price, he could be made available even at this stage.

From what I've seen so far from this kid, he's shown more than Feeley IMO. I've also had the opportunity to see him a little in college and he showed some promise there too.

Yes and I wasn't meaning it in that way. I seen him play in the last preseason game and he looked good. I was just noting that he played for Saban at LSU. I also add that if anyone knows him Saban does. He got released from the Broncos and Saban has said every oppotunity he gets to upgrade the team he will. I guess he doesn't thinkhe will be an upgrade.

I think Matt Schaub would fit perfectly in a WCO, but I don't know if he would be a good fit for the Phins. He's got talent, and has looked great for Atlanta in preseason, but I think he's better suited for a WCO.
