Like most 3-4 outside linebackers in the NFL, Porter was an active, undersized defensive end coming out of Colorado State. He was fine pass rusher immediately, but had to be taught the tricks of the linebacker trade. He continued to refine those skills very well. Since then, Porter has excelled and thrived as a 3-4 outside linebacker. He was physical, nasty and a fine pass rusher in his prime. But now, his linebacker skills may have actually surpassed his ability to rush the passer. He is very stout against the run and will give tight ends in the AFC East a hard time in the run game.
