Time for Rishard Matthews to be utilized more. No reason he can't replace Hartline. Landry, Matthews and draft Dorsett in second round. Trade or release Wallace. Time to move on from him. Andre Holmes (FA) could serve as a cheaper tall/speed/red zone target. Matt Hazel also has potential. No need at all for Wallace type contracts. Look at the two super bowl teams receivers. I like Matthews a lot. Hope he gets opportunity to shine this yr and get long term contract next yr. Dorsett can serve as deep threat we have been lacking. Tannehill deep ball will improve. Wallace and Tannehill just didn't pair well together. Wallace is a ME player not a team player. We don't need to waste first round pick on a receiver.

We still don't know what's going to happen with Wallace. I definitely take one of the top 3 wrs if one of them is there.

If a top 3 receiver isn't there then I take a receiver in the second/ third round . But were definitely taking more than 1 receiver in this draft .

Not a sure thing. We took 2 receivers last year. Hazel may make roster this year. He was on active roster at end of the season. We probably draft 1 receiver and sign one in free agency going into June anyway.

If cutting/trading Wallace would actually give us any real financial relief this year, I would agree. Since it doesn't, it just makes more sense to keep him. We can transition Matthews more into the offense, and give our incoming rookie WR a year to get comfortable. Next year, parting from Wallace makes much more sense if him and Tannehill still can't get on better footing both on and off the field....also, I disagree that a 1st round pick would be "wasted" on a WR. I'd like to see one of the top 3 WR prospects end up in Miami, although I would be happy with Dorsett too.

I remember watching the Monday night game against Tampa in 2013 thinking Matthews could be a legit weapon going forward. There's talent there.

Got to be the coach that can understand that and pull that talent out of him. This team needs to be able to develop more of its players.

Yeah we need to see more of that.

If our wr corps would be:

Wallace, Matthews, Landry, Andre Holmes, Dorsett id be totally happy with it. I doubt Holmes is going anywhere though, may need 2 rookies

I think he will surprise a lot of people if given the opportunity. everytime he was in last year he made plays. that's why I don't get this coaching staff

If you think about it, Miami has done a pretty decent developing players over the last several years (over several tenures)

Wake
Olivier Vernon
Reshad Jones
Brian Hartline
Charles Clay
Ryan Tannehill
Lamar Miller
Jelani Jenkins
Derrick Shelby

Just to name some of the guys that have shown pretty tremendous improvement while in a Dolphins uniform.

thank you!!! i've been saying this stuff for weeks.... its hard to get people to see it or agree with it.

also we need Wallace next year to allow our offense, young WRs like Landry and whomever, Tannehill to all keep developing and improving as a unit. it would be difficult to really get all that going without him next year.

You are right there is talent there but Matthews has got to want to be more than just another guy.

After that Monday night game, the next two weeks Matthews played almost as many snaps as Wallace did. Against the Chargers, both Matthews and Wallace played 56 of 63 snaps and against the Panthers the snap count was 51 of 63 for Matthews and 57 of 63 for Wallace. So it seems the Dolphins coaching staff did give Matthews a chance to capitalize on his opportunity but for whatever reason he couldn't or didn't.

Last summer Matthews did admit to some missteps like being late to some meetings among other things. He said Philbin sat down with him and gave him the ropes. The coaches want Matthews to pay more attention to details and be more professional on and off the field. Matthew has an opportunity that few people ever get and now it's up to him to seize it.

I think he should be in the conversation as a player that makes the team, but I wouldn't be happy with him as the number 2 going into the season...

I do believe he should get more snaps then he has...he's strong at the point of attack and can work though a defender.

I agree but sooner rather than later, Matthews has got to realize that the game should be the reward for the hard work and professionalism put in during the offseason and game week.

This staff didn't develop Wake, he was great before they got here. Same with Jones. In fact, Jones has played worse under this staff. Hartline? Really....

Clay did somewhat better last year, but really didn't do much of anything this year. OV disappeared this year. Miller benefited from a better blocking scheme. Shelby...he is OK as a backup...that's it.

Jenkins is about the only one on that list, and if not for injuries....THIS COACHING STAFF WOULD PROBABLY STILL HAVE HIM ON THE BENCH!!!

This staff has produced nothing!

Jones played great his first year in Coyle's system then regressed when he got paid in 2013 before returning to his 2012 form for most of the 2014 season.

As for Jenkins getting his opportunity because of injuries...that's the way it happens sometimes. Imagine if Bledsoe never got hurt in New England.
