Jets | Mawae will apparently refuse pay cut
Fri, 17 Feb 2006 05:27:31 -0800
Ken Berger, of Newsday, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets OC Kevin Mawae, coming off surgery to repair a torn left triceps, apparently will refuse to take a pay cut and will ask the Jets to release him if they can't handle his projected $4.5 million cap figure.

The nightmares for Zach will end if Mawae decides to leave the sinking ship.

Zach normally handles the Jets until they chop block and double him.

I'll take him if he has 2 good years left in him no doubt.

The Jets OL blocking system allows Mawae to get a block on our MLB (ZACH). Its a problem that has been there for a few yrs now. Mawae is a serious decent blocker and thats been proven with past results.

His Mawae nightmares ended this year when we had a coach smart enough to realize he had to move Zach around (week 2 @nyj = 12 tackles 1 FF).

Amen to that.

Mawae would be a great pick up. I believe the jets would only save 26% of his salary if they cut him. They are in so much a mess it warms my heart on these cold new York nights. The whiz kids in charge are clueless:dolphins: :dolphins:

Saving salary wouldn't be the primary reason to cut Mawae. It would be part of a major shakeup, that would see many of the veterans who are in decline cut. The salary is just one of the reasons, not THE reason.

Id love to get him if we cant get Bentley

The Jets looks like they will lose some key players this offseason. Much like the Titans did last year.
