I know it's early but this has to be on ross mind. As a fan of course i want my fins to win but if lazor just knocks it out the park this season the man is a HC next season. I haven't been this happy about a coordinator in a long time so what do you do as a owner to keep him. Do you fire your current HC even if we make the playoffs to promote lazor? Or is there some other way we can entice him to say if this team is successful this year?

I doubt it'll be a 1 year turnaround seeing as this is his 1st year as an nfl OC. 2-3 years is my guess. No matter how bright somebody is they have to develop lots of other skills.

This is something that has been brought up before, and unfortunately there is no solution. If the team is successful, Ross will not fire Philbin even if Lazor is primarily responsible for the turnaround. If the team is successful and another team comes knocking to make Lazor their HC, he will leave. There is nothing we can do to stop that eventuality.

The ONLY way Lazor would ever become Dolphins HC is if the team fails to make the playoffs or goes on a massive losing streak due to an implosion of the defense or losing a bunch of close games where the offense plays well, but the defense stinks. Even then, I don't think its likely. Ross would prefer to take a stab at Harbaugh than tab Lazor as the next HC in the event Philbin is fired.

I really don't want to be Linehanned again. We had easily one of the best OC's in the league and only had him for 1 year before an HC position came calling. If we'd chosen Brees instead of Culpepper and managed to hold on to Linehan... What a different world we'd be living in right now. Let's hope we get Lazor for a few years and if there's a time when other team's come calling we should seriously consider promoting him to HC first. But this is a good week when we're already looking ahead and worrying about being TOO successful.

Even if Lazor left after 1 year, the dolphins will not all of a sudden forget about what Lazor taught them. They can bring in another OC with similar offensive mind, or promote within. Although I can not see Lazor leaving, unless they win the SB, or go deep in the playoffs and another team offers a lot of money for him.

I think Lazor already has more influence in the locker room than Philbin. You can see his influence, toughness and confidence that we certainly didn't have before he got here. He is a true leader of men and players respond to him. Maybe you make him assistant head coach to keep him here but if we lose him and keep Philbin it will put this franchise back to where we started.

Ross is not a stupid man and I think he will find a way to keep Lazor, even if it is at the expense of letting Philbin go. It wouldn't be the first time a coach got released after making the playoffs.

Do we have any assistant/position coaches that are promising? Get them to shadow Lazor immediately and learn his ways!

I have thought about this a lot on Monday and if it came to it, I would replace Philbin with Lazor if that is the only way to get him to stay.

That would barely do anything when you consider the constant game time decisions and play calls an OC has to make. He isn't just going to adopt Lazor's brain, the play calling would be very different.

Yes, because there are all kinds of guys like Lazor out there looking for jobs...yeah right!

different doesn't mean bad. at the end of the day, it's about execution and the players believing in the system.

I know everyone is hyped about what lazor has brought so far, but he hasn't done anything yet. we are 1-0.

You really think he will give up on being an HC just for some more money? Lazor doesn't strike me as that kind of guy. He wants to be an HC in the league, and if the right team comes calling he will leave no matter what we do. I don't think that will be after this year, but certainly after next year if the offense continues to succeed.
