Maybe a premature dilemma but we may have a problem

Personally to me, there is no higher compliment to an organization than someobdy being considered for a HC or GM gig. If Lazor were to get a gig after one year? We'll see what happens. Normally I'd say promote from within but I don't know if any of our position coaches are ready or would want to move up.

No offense but Coyle won us the game not Lazor. The defense is what was so impressive.Sherman beat the Patriots last year. Tell me the last time any Team shut the Patriots down for 2 quarters in a game. Very rare...

I think Lazor already has more influence in the locker room than Philbin. You can see his influence, toughness and confidence that we certainly didn't have before he got here. He is a true leader of men and players respond to him. Maybe you make him assistant head coach to keep him here but if we lose him and keep Philbin it will put this franchise back to where we started.

Ross is not a stupid man and I think he will find a way to keep Lazor, even if it is at the expense of letting Philbin go. It wouldn't be the first time a coach got released after making the playoffs.

I love when people make things up without anything to back up a claim...

It's only been one game. Before we anoint him the next great Dolphins coach....lets get a few games under our belt.

I certainly liked what I saw and hope this style of attacking offense continues.....but we have a long season ahead of us.

I think Lazor is here at least through 2015, but lets not get carried away. We put up 33 points in 1 game, but we still have at least 15 more to go.

And as someone else mentioned in this thread, Coyle deserves a lot of credit for calling a great 2nd half while missing 3 starting LBs. That was probably more impressive than the playcalling by Lazor.

As said, the D won that game. Our run game stepped up quite a bit and contributed greatly. Lazor called the game that needed to be called obviously bc we won handily but it's only one game. This is the most reactionary group of people I have ever encountered. Take a breath, one game does not a season make.

The Cart is officially in front of the horse...It was one game lol.

lol...no kidding.

So let me get this straight. You want to fire a coach with 3 years of experience who seems to finally be putting it all together for an OC with no head coaching experience at any level because you're afraid to lose him? Am I getting this straight? And your reference is Scott Linehan who was awful as a head coach? Should we also bring up Cam Cameron who was a very good OC and then became our HC?

I don't think Bill Lazor is going to be any Cam Cameron, but this. Cart definitely before the horse.

I know it's early but this has to be on ross mind. As a fan of course i want my fins to win but if lazor just knocks it out the park this season the man is a HC next season. I haven't been this happy about a coordinator in a long time so what do you do as a owner to keep him. Do you fire your current HC even if we make the playoffs to promote lazor? Or is there some other way we can entice him to say if this team is successful this year?

Nothing to worry about yet. IMO Lazor will need two good seasons before that happens.

Pettine should have never been hired by CLE but no-one else would take the job, but then again he was a DC before and did it twice with two different teams.

I think you are fine with your OC for this and next year, after a successful next year though no telling.

I remember people were afraid of losing Sherman 2 years ago and wanting to make him head coach instead. Probably a lot of the same donkeys too. Lazor was a QB coach just months ago, our team would have to do something extremely special, like get to the Super Bowl at the very least, for him to be considered a hot HC candidate. And if we get to the SB Philbin in no way is in any danger.

Bruce Arians replacing Chuck Pagano when he came back from cancer would have been more likely than Lazor replacing Philbin. And as harsh as that would have been I think letting Arians go could absolutely have been a mistake.

People need to get this silly pipe dream that there exists a perfect scenario where Lazor could replace Philbin out of their heads. Its not happening.
