Peyton comes off as this nice humble guy but don't be fooled the guy definitely has an ego, and one that definitely needs to be massaged. Everyone talks about personnel, front office, guaranteed money, weather, state income taxes, etc.... but I thought maybe he is just afraid of Miami.
There are two reason for my thought process, first; he will have to play the Patriots twice a year and prove he is better than Brady. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning has faced 13 times, Brady has won 8 games, while Peyton has only won 5. Brady has more Superbowl wins and can defeat the argument of who is the better QB if for the next 3-4 seasons he up that winning percentage against Manning, ultimately keeping him out of the post season. This tarnishes Peyton legacy especially now with little brother Eli having won 2 Superbowls.
Second; Peyton might not be the biggest star on the best team in South Florida. He will have to share the spotlight with LeBron & Wade which might mean less endorsement dollars. And we all know how much he loves his commercial time. He will have plenty of competition from the other up and coming teams in Miami. The Marlins with their new stadium and personnel moves to provide a quality product. The Heat who is already a championship caliber team, will certainly put added pressure for him to produce. And you never know how far off the Hurricanes are with Al Golden.
See Peyton was King of Indy, nobody to challenge his throne. In Denver or Arizona is a much safer and less riskier options, which will not be the case in Miami. Who is their biggest sports star in those cities? No reward without the risk Mr. Manning but if you're scared take your ball and go elsewhere!
