Possible, but if true, it also means the contract has been agreed to ahead of time.  Because you don't make a trade like that only to have Manning's deal fall apart in negotiations.

i agree especially if you trade your best wr for a 3rd round pick, they have to have a plan

Maybe it's not so much about Manning saying he didnt want to play with Marshall, but gave a 'wishlist' of players he'd like whatever team he signs with to bring in. Trading Marshall, and freeing up the cap space would have the Dolphins better poised to make those acquisitions, and in a year when WR is a deep position in FA, even if Manning doesn't sign, you can likely find a BMarsh replacement for less than the 11million he was making.
