Apparently, they're interested in parting ways with him. Granted, he's 33yo but he's a player (154 tackles/2FF/2 INT's/3 sacks/11 PD) and could contribute for the next couple years. I just don't believe Saban is content with our OLB'er roster. THAT is the #1 issue on defense right now. Seeing his competitive nature to win now, I believe something is going to happen at that position soon.

I really, really, really doubt it. He's a 33 year old smaller player who can only really fill Zach's role in the defense, and as of last time it was noted they wanted a 2nd rounder for him.

Not sure what Coach is up to, is there any indication Saban is talking with the Chargers about this guy? We do need linebackers.

In Saban We Trust!

I could not agree more. The LB spot has to be addressed and soon. This draft was as deep in LBs as any I can remember and I was sure we would get one. I guess it just didn't work out that way, but I agree OLB who can rush the QB is our glaring need for the rest of the off-season. I had forgot about Edwards but he is as good as anyone I can think of to fill that spot.

Here's a concept. Accept that Saban believes the OLB position is covered and move on. Just a friendly suggestion.

Well, no, he doesnt seem to, considering he was looking at Lavar Arrington and reportedly interested in Kamerion Wimbley.

He was reportedly looking at TO as well and look how reliable that report was. At any rate, Arrington represented a major upgrade and even if we had a solid LB corp (like I think we do) a team cannot in good conscience not put some serious feelers out.

Bingo! While Spragan isn't the most talented player on the team, it isn't like our pass rush was crippled by having him in there. We still managed to be 2nd in the league in sacks. OLB, was an area of need, but no more so than interior OL, DT, DB, or WR. Of course according to the groupthink going on on these boards, this is blasphemy.

Seriously..Saban didnt get any LB's in FA, or even one later in the draft. I thought he'd probably take a LB with the 3rd pick. Or the 4th. He didnt. So I'm guessing he's not even worried about it.

People rmember that dreadful 2004 season: LB Derrick Pope had a pretty good year. I thought he played well.

ZACK
Crowder
Spragan
Pope

Sedrick Hodge is the starter in the 3 4 right now and i dont think Saban minds that...saying that there will be cap casualties of big name guys soon to come and that would be the spot i think we will be hoping for maybe Donnie??? also Saban picked up a need in the supplemental draft last year and he may go that route this year again with Ahmad Brooks..we will see

Uh, he did look at TO. He commented publically on it.

It's not a matter of naming 4 linebackers. For one, Jason Taylor is a linebacker in the 3-4. For two, you named 3 interior linebackers.

well last time i checked Crowder and Spragan play OLB. now when the team runs 3 4...Channing is ILB and Spragan and JT runs OLB.....your kind of off so please dont try to flame others who are for the most part right

saban could also be thinking about jamie sharper...he has tons of talent....needs to stay healthy
