Maybe Saban's Biggest Oversight

I think 2004 was our first 1st rounder in something like 5 years....lol

Well the replys in this thread look eerily similar to the ones I read all during the Wannestadt era (on other boards). He just felt he needed to take the "bpa", there was no one he felt "worth the value at that point in the draft", etc, etc. How do other teams find good Qbs? They draft them and develop them. We havent done this for years, so we dont have one, not a coincidence. Im willing to give Saban the benefit of the doubt. Ive always thought this was a rebuilding process and would take years so im not going to start panicking, but I do believe Saban should have drafted a Qb. A Qb is going to take years to develop and its in the teams best interest to start now.

If Miami can't draft Leinart, Jacobs, or any quarterback who maybe rising on draft day, I don't think Saban will draft one, we're not going to draft a QB just for the sake of it.

I agree,nice post!

I only have one thing to say....I wouldn't give up Ronnie Brown!! We needed a RB too(BADLY) or do you forget that.Even if we had drafted a QB he probably would have just gotten hurt because of our o-line. QB and O-line in next years draft I say.And then look out.

And as I explained, obviously, in Saban's opinion and his close advisors and scouts, there was no QB in this draft that he felt was a long term solution. Maybe he felt with more Draft picks and a better salary cap situation next offseason, that would be a better chance to get the Quarterback he seeks.

fishfan save your breath.....some people will never get it.
