This seems like a donkey hire, no sense of going in right direction. At the beginning of last season I was so pumped and really felt good of our chances with suh and such. Maybe this seems bad now but the opposite will finally happen for us phin fans :chuckle:

"If every instinct I have is wrong, the opposite would have to be right!"

What about this move is a " Donkey hire " to you? We got the guy all the other teams looking for coaches were coveting. From everything I've read on other sites we appear to be the only fanbase that didn't want Gase. I don't get it would you rather wait and strike out on Hue and Coughlin, and settle for Marrone or Mora? Why do the fans on this site all think they know better than the people who actually work in this leauge? This is being called a homerun from pretty much every outside source.

I wanted some sort of stability. ..not a unknown. ..I hope the opposite happens and leads us to promised land

I hear you. But we have to get it right eventually. Gase is well thought of throughout the league. Eagles and Giants both apparently had Gase as a prime target. I think Joe Philibin was a bit of a head scratcher around the league, although Miami bought into his development of Aaron Rogers. I know Dolphin fans, in general, hate Nick Saban but I think he would have turned this team around given more time.

We'll see on Gates. Hopefully, Miami finally found the next young Don Shula. Hopefully, Gates will have a long and successful career here with the Dolphins.

You just never know with a coaching hire. Evaluating a new coaching hire is even more unpredictable than a 1st round draft pick.

There are some that are obviously bad but with most you really just don't know. Some fail at other places and go on to do well. Others do well and then fail.

I don't think anything jumps out that says this guy is a loser. He cut down on Cutler's turnovers, he had an offense Manning liked, he works real hard, he's smart. That's what they say and what they say isn't going to mean a hill of beans on a snowy day in New England. I take what they say as something slightly favorable that he might do well as a HC. He's not the most accomplished assistant coach out there but that's not always the formula either. Buddy Ryan was the perfect example of that.

I'm not mad about it but I'm not doing cartwheels either. I'm slightly optimistic. He's apparently got some of the goods to be a HC and we just don't know yet how he is going to lead a locker room.

I'm not pumped but results are all that matters

yes, we got the hottest candidate in the NFL, how ****ing awful

Where is it that ssys he's the greatest since sliced bread....I want him to succeed. .just not pumped with him that's all

nowhere, but he has done nothing to suggest this is a dennis hickey level hire so some perspective is required unless you can tell me why you think he will be all time bad coach as the op suggests?

he hasn't really done squat..I could've coached Peyton that year...Please don't get me wrong as i want the best..im always optimistic
