[h=3]Miami Dolphins[/h] Although Ezekiel Elliott isn't likely to fall to Miami's pick at No. 13, Mayock believes the Dolphins would be thrilled if the former Ohio State running back did. If the Cowboys at No. 4 are the ceiling for Elliott's draft hopes, the Dolphins might be the floor. A cornerback could be Miami's play in the first round. Asked if No. 13 is too soon for Houston's William Jackson III or Ohio State's Eli Apple, Mayock said "not really, because there's going to be a run on corners in a little while."

Cornerback should be in play. I want the team to draft a corner, but I think the braintrust is still miffed on losing CJ Anderson and they want another running back in the fold, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if Zeke Elliott is the pick. Otherwise, Apple, WJIII or Hargreaves should be the pick.

As an Ohio State fan, I would kill to see Elliot or Bosa on this team and I am aware that we need CB, OG and OLB more than a DE or RB.

Elliot is an INSTANT impact. A game changer. As is Bosa but there is zero shot at Bosa.

I never thought Eli Apple or Darron Lee were first round talents.

I think that's a really fair assessment. Lee and Apple have no business being the pick at 13. Hopefully Elliot falls because despite how undervalued running backs have become in the NFL, a well rounded back makes the game that much easier. Carolina lost the super bowl to Denver because they couldn't run the ball on Denver and became one dimensional.

Hargreaves falls, then you consider need and possibly take corner in round one. But if he isn't there figure out how to get a decent corner who is sitting there in the second. Burns and the kid from VAtech will probably be there. Apple or Alexander could be there as well. With all the talk about moving up if you take Elliot at 13 figure out how to move up in the second round or late first and grab Lee or Apple then (or even Ragland)

He hit the nail on the head . . . CB is such a huge need that you can't get caught up in semantics of "dropping down" because you may have a guy rated 20 instead of 13. That run on CB is going to happen before 20 and Miami needs to get one (unless a unexpected player drops)

That's my thinking too. Corners always go higher than expected especially if they check off the size/speed box. I don't see Eli Apple as a top 15 pick either, but I do like his upside. I'm still hopeful that Vernon Hargreaves is the pick at #13.

Will say that Zeke Elliott changes my draft direction. If he's there you take him.

The first Bosa was a failure. no thanks

I think if Zeke is there, we are going to take him..if not, its Apple or Jackson assuming a guy like Ramsey or Jack are not in play for some miracle. I don't even know what to think about the possibility of Zeke getting to us...I have seen him mocked to the Cowboys, Giants, Bears and us. So really I don't think anyone knows where he is going, but if 3 teams before us have interest in him, I doubt they all pass on him.

As a fellow buckeye fan I agree. Apple is talented but raw and unproven. In the 2nd he's a great pick. I'm also secretly hoping we draft vonn bell.

I'm thinking Elliott to the Browns and the way it looks Apple will available at 13, which may have been the plan all along

Our linebackers were the worse part of our defense last year.

IMO I prefer Conklin in the first and a CB in the 2 and Kenyan Drake in the 3.

I think a solid OL will give a better running game than a very godd RB behind a putrid OL.

I mean I think drafting Conklin is like buying insurance when you really need to buy parts for your car to get it up and running

You have a pretty solid bookend duo at tackle already . . . Sure they have been hurt over the last two years, but that is a solid twosome. That CB market in round 2 is underwhelming . . . Get your guy at CB and you can probably land a guy like Whitehair at guard in round two. I mean you have both of your tackles under contract for the next three years and Conklin is not beating out either one of those guys.

The offensive line may have been putrid, but there is talent all over that unit and we already put .ourselves in a better position at backup tackle with the Bushrod/Young signings. You add a guy like Whitehair at guard and another veteran later on . . . I would be shocked if we don't have 5 competent players to man that starting unit.

IMHO, both CB and OG are positions where you can find players in every round. That's not true of positions like DE and OT. But, we happen to have glaring holes at OG and CB. We have demonstrated zero ability to draft mid-round OG's because our scouts are looking for the physical traits feet quickness and length at the expense of technique and power. The reality is that you need a certain amount of all 4, and technique is the most important part. Thus, we keep getting the John Jerry, Dallas Thomas, Billy Turner and Jamil Douglas types who look great at the combine, but never seem to do well enough at offensive line. We can't just wait until the 3rd through 5th rounds to select an OG. Einstein's definition of insanity was doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results ... so let's not wait too long to draft OL unless we hire new scouts please.

Fortunately for us, the OG market starts at the very end of round 1 or the beginning of round 2 with Cody Whitehair. That's when we should be in the OG market IMHO, at the top, where those OG's do not have fundamental flaws in technique and power but are still on our scouts radar with good feet and length. So, to me, the 2nd round where we pick #6 is one definite spot to pluck an OG unless a huge talent falls into our lap ... and I don't see may of those in this draft honestly.

Vance Joseph is the DB whisperer. He really got the best out of all the DB's he coached, from safeties like Iloka and Nelson to troubled head cases like Adam Jones to talented but unpolished youngsters like Dre Kirkpatrick ... they all played their best football under him, they all lived up to their potential, and they all raved about how great he was. They loved him, they would go to war for him, and they reached their potential. So, it makes the most possible sense to give him 1 or 2 very talented youngsters to groom so he can develop them into excellent football players and become the base of our defense for years to come. Also, if we are terrible, he will be gone, so the sooner he starts teaching them the better. If we are surprisingly great, he'll get head coach offers and be gone ... soooooooo the sooner he starts teaching talented youngsters the better. So, to me, CB should be the very first pick and it shouldn't be a polished gem like Hargreaves (whom I really think is awesome and the best CB in this draft), but rather it should be a less polished guy with high upside ... exactly like Eli Apple or William Jackson. We traded down because it appears we are targeting exactly that type of player at CB.

While there will be tempting players at every selection, I really believe we need to stay the course, select the right CB for Joseph at #13 (1st) and a complete technician OG at #42 (2nd). We can probably trade down a little in the 1st, but by #25 the run on CB's will be in full force and we may miss out, so we can't trade down much. IMHO, we cannot trade down in the 2nd round because we need to stay right on the front of that OG pool. Our scouts need to be selecting in the premium OG market to not completely blow the pick .... again.
