Mayock/McShay on Tannehill

Nice thing is if he were to go belly up at QB, he would be transitioned to WR and be our Jordy NElson in Miami. He is that good.

no doubt tannehill got an uptick with barkley not coming out but had he cleveland at #4 probably would have pulled the trigger anyways so barring us jumping in front of them with minnesota we'd still be in this same boat and tannehill would still be a heavy topic for us...

but landry jones...ha ha...no draft prospect hurt his stock more with his play than landry jones did in 2011...so i don't see him being an issue whatsoever in where tannehill would have gone...

i'm like a lot of you guys i don't have a conviction about tannehill like i did cam newton last year or andrew luck or matt barkley but i also have come to the realization that no amount of position talent is gonna make us perennial contenders in this league til we land the high end franchise qb...til then we're just treading water...so lets just go with the highest end one available and roll the dice...if it goes belly up with the new cba we could get out in no time anyways...and if anyone should know what this kids capable of mike sherman should...

Mike Sherman is in MIA because of him.

He couldn't hold Jordy Nelson's jock.

Well put. I couldn't agree more.

Personally I think, IF we take Tannehill, getting rid of marshall will have been a great move to further Tannehill's development. Too many times a young QB will become dependant on that "#1" receiver.

Without a #1 Tannehill will be forced to go through his reads and progressions and find the open receiver as opposed to bailing out to his #1 guy or his checkdown. I can only hope.

also consider that neither Moore or Henne got along with Marshall.

Hoops, I think Jacksonville and Minnesota did exactly that with Gabbert and Ponder .. hoping they'd develop in time ... Tannehill has more skills or QB tools to work than either Ponder or Gabbert and I wouldn't blame Miami for selecting Tannehill if he is there at #8 ... I have seen 15 of Tannehill's starts from 2010 and 2011 and there is marked improvement from year to year, which could be considered a positive in Tannehill's case and a reason to think with time he can develop into a very good starting NFL QB!!!

Well Jacksonville kind of screwed the pooch in that they cut Gerrard because he was unhealthy and then thought Luke McCown would be a suitable vet to mentor Gabbert which wasn't the case and Gabbert was NO WHERE near ready. From what I saw of Ponder, the biggest problem there was everytime he dropped back to pass he got killed. That OL was beat up bad last year.

He seems like a reach at 8 but Sherman should know what he's worth. Pass rusher or trade back for picks if he's not the guy.
