Not sure if anyone has seen this yet....

Over the last couple of years I have grown to respect Mayock's opinions and mocks, well, as far as you can with any "draft specialst" opinions.

I thought he had alot of good insight and a pretty decent ability to evaluate talent levels.

That said, I found some of his recent player rankings mind boggling.

Heres a link: http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story...emplate=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

WR: Nicks doesnt even make his top 5? (Not that I'm looking to justify drafting him on the first day, i'd rather steer clear of WR prospects till day 2)

C: Unger and Wood before Mack?!

OT: Oher only 4th best?

But probably more shocking than anything, Laurinaitis #1 ILB? Really? REALLY?!! In what friggin reality is Laurinaitis a better ILB than Maualuga?

Oh well, they will change after the combine anyway...

Just found it funny.

Mayock evaluates prospects on film, he understands the techniques and fundamentals of the position and projects them accordingly to the next level...

I respect his opinions much more than the other talking heads that influence hype...

Quarterbacks, running backs, offensive lineman, and defensive backs are what Mayock is head and shoulders the best at IMO...

Ironically, those positions are where I disagree with Mayock a little on this particular list...which will certainly change after the combine and as the draft nears...

For example, Chris Wells is a 230+ pound running back that runs like a scatback....his running style doesn't fit his natural body and mass...he'll learn he needs to run a little tougher between the tackles in the NFL...much like Ronnie Brown had to learn...

Wells does possess a magnificent stiff arm....McFadden like stiff arm...

Wells durability concerns also do not warrant being the #1 running back...

I'm sure Mayock basis this off how adept Wells is at pass protection and picking up the blitz...critical factors in projecting running backs to the NFL...Wells is definitely a 3 down back in the NFL...but Moreno is the #1 back on my board at the moment...followed by LeSean McCoy..

Mayock is the draft God, e.g. last year he was the only one praising QB Ryan and critizing RB McFadden. Unlike the other supposed draft gurus, who just go with the flow, blowing hot air, Mayock steps up to the plate with balls, and backs it up with hard work and tons of research. And by the way CK and Boomer are built in the same mold as Mayock.

1.The only consensus on the WRs is Crabtree is 1, Macklin is 2. After that, it's an opinion

2.A lot of people do have Unger ahead of Mack because of his versatility. Wood is also gaining a lot of steam.

3.Not a stretch at all since all 3 guys he has ranked ahead of Oher will be drafted ahead of Oher.

4.Both Little Animal and Rey Ray are extremely overrated, but Little Animal did have a great senior season and plays smart football, Rey Rey disappointed and plays wildly. Just because people on this board don't like Little Animal doesn't mean he's a bad player.

I agree I trust his opinion much more than anyone else's. Even when I disargee with an evulation of his, he always has great work to back his analysis up. Instead of just going off hype, he actually does a lot of research(something Kiper should do a little more of).

Anybody who doesn't rank Scott Mckillop in the top five of ILB's hasn't done his homework. The case for Mckillop when you dig deep is just overwhelming.

One bad day running the forty and the kid gets a bad rep the rest of his life. We'll see what he runs at the combine.

Please explain to me what's wrong with McFadden, AP went a team with the better Olines in the league and a great defense. McFadden goes to a team with a bad Oline, terrible play at QB, no WR's and a decent to average defense.
You can't compare the two until Oakland fixes the Oline and Russel actually becomes a bit of a threat.

68 players on that list means we're guaranteed a shot at 3 of them .and looking down the names who'll definately go 1st round i believe brian cushing will still be there at 25.

Mayock also said Jon Beason was the best LB in the 2007 draft that had Patrick Willis.

Given that everyone and their grandmother had Willis as the best, Mayock saw the talent in Beason, who ran a 4.7 40 at the combine, and rated him the best.

Ever since that draft, I've been a Mike Mayock listener when it comes to the draft. His perspective holds alot of water to me.
