McCabe Gets 5Yr Deal!!!

i love the guy - perfect qb for the pp - lotta money though... still, i would rather have him than not have him - there's a couple ottawa senator free-agents defensemen i wouldn't mind seeing in a leaf uniform though
 
Since when is McCabe the QB of the PP, I always thought Kaberle did that.

Honestly I could care less about the Laughs but I've always thought McCabe was way overrated and expendable for the Leafs, especially at that money. I could be wrong about the PP though.
 
dammit. i was looking foward to a mccabe/chara reunion on the isles blueline. Ah well 1/2 will be fine

Way too much in my opinion. He is far too one dimensional to be paid as a top tier defenseman. The guy is a train wreck in his own end.

With guys like Blake, Jovonovski, Lidstrom, Chara and Redden all unrestricted free agents, the price for all of them just went through the roof.

They should all send John Ferguson Jr. a percentage because he made them a BUCKET of loot by overpaying for McCabe.
 
I'm kind of on the fence about this. Think its way too much money for a defenseman whose defensive talents are suspect at times, especially compared to what Kaberle re-signed for.

On the other hand, when you start to think what the likes of Chara and Redden are probably going to get, its not that bad. Plus, I'd say this effectively elimnates any hopes Ottawa had of keeping both of them, and anything that hurts Ottawa is fine by me.

I think the Rangers have every advantage that exists to sign Chara.

With all those Czech players on that club I think it is as close to a done deal as anything can be at this point.

That would be a GREAT signing by the Rangers. All Glen Sather needed to start making really good hockey decisions was a salary cap.:lol:

Seriously though, I'm willing to say that there is about a 95% chance Chara is a Ranger when free agency starts.
