McDaniel - Funny? Silly? Childish?

"Fun and quirky" has no known value in football. How does "fun and quirky" cause winning in professional football?

How does it cause losing?

Bill Parcells is widely known to be one of the biggest SOBs ever employed in the NFL.

He was also one of the funniest. It was mostly sarcasm but funny as all get out.

Story time:

Parcells used to do a full check list count of the players when they got on the bus to the game.

On one Sunday, the first name he called was LT’s.

“Lawrence Taylor?!”

“I’m here, coach.”

“Driver! Let’s go! That’s all we need to win the game.”

How does it cause losing?
It creates a soft culture of "fun and games" as opposed to an aggressive culture revolving around a serious drive to win. Moreover, it undermines the stature of the head coach as a leader, and he becomes less capable of inspiring and galvanizing the team from that position. Someone who's established himself with his players as a silly amateur comedian won't be taken seriously enough to have the intended impact when giving an impassioned halftime speech, for example.

Nobody would confuse Mike McDaniel with Bill Parcells.

That’s completely bonkers.

Here’s an actual quote:

“I refuse to be put in a box. It's my job to be what my team needs me to be. Sometimes it's close and cuddly, and sometimes it's not. I don't have any problem being any of the above.

Sometimes when they couple 'players' coach' with questions about how I wear my hair or what I choose to wear on the sidelines or what type of music I listen to, then it gets kind of old and falls into that category for me.”

Does that sound about right?

Nobody would confuse Mike McDaniel with Bill Parcells.

Oh, Jesus Christ, bro.

You obviously have a bias agenda hence, lose all credibility with any post on the matter.

Where did I imply that they would be confused?

You’re so certain on a matter that is contingent upon results.

I’d gamble you’d also tell me your opinion would remain the same if McDaniel had brought home the Lombardi last year because you clearly lack objectivity on the matter.

This is only a matter of discussion because the Miami Dolphins are currently losers.

Not a single sane person on here would give a good flying fok about this if it was us owning the Bills & the division.

Same goes at the other end of the spectrum. It would’ve been so interesting to see what would have become of Tua with fans if Flores would’ve miraculously won a Superbowl with Fitzpatrick. I’d be a gambling man that him treating Tua like dog shiet would not have made the whirlwind that it did.

It's bulletin board material, especially teams like Barfalo, Ravens, and KC, but I'm old and old school. I'm sure many think it's cute...LOL

Sure, and that happens at the level of the players, not at the level of the head coaches directed at the players. When it happens from a head coach toward the players, the head coach places himself at the level of the players and it undermines his stature as their leader. He becomes "one of them" instead of their leader. He then becomes less capable of leading them.
Dude, coaches talk ****. Trust me.

To be fair, when Bill Parcells had his influence on Miami, they were .521. Under McDaniel, they're .600.

Mike Tomlin is not a great coach. He’s been riding the coattails of the system Cowher built and the exceptional personell department of the Steelers for years. He’s also a cheater. As is Bilichick, who wasn’t **** without Brady. Shula, Landry and Lombardi??? They were coaching at their best more than half a century ago. Tony Dungy a great coach? His biggest success was getting hired to coach the team Chucky built. Andy Reid didn’t win a Super Bowl until he got Mahomes, and his commercials aren’t exactly the most dignified things I’ve ever seen.

Molds are meat to be broken. History is littered with people who were absolutely ridiculed and ostracized by the establishment and conventional wisdom for daring to be different, and who, in the end, were supremely successful.

If McDaniel wants to make jokes and have fun on the sidelines, who are we to judge him for it, especially when he is wining?
3-6 at the time. Winning? Haha...How's that for trash talk?
