McDaniel - Funny? Silly? Childish?

I don't know what to make of this? I think when the team is winning and good, one might find it funny. When they are losing, one might find it childish, annoying, and inappropriate. The LOL at the end too, not a good look. I don't think it is ever a good idea to tweak the other team's best player. And personally, I do not think you want a head coach to behave this way. Maturity and setting a tone and culture is important from the team's leader.

he needs to be supervised more aggressively.

Those old-school, Belichickian coaches are becoming relics. Mangini. Crennel. Judge. Flores. Daboll. McDaniels. Groh.

All of them failed. "The Patriot Way" worked because of Tom Brady.

There's a reason Belichick wasn't hired as the HC of the Falcons.

You just can't treat players like **** any more and call them out in meetings as your only means of communication with them. You want a role model for a modern coach? Look to Andy Reid. He jokes all the time with his players.

Is McDaniel still finding his way? Absolutely. But calling him out for needling an opposing player on the sideline and using THAT as an example of why you think he's a bad NFL coach is just bat**** crazy.

I thought it was great and hilarious. Lots of coaches jar with the opposing team's players. It's called being competitive. This is nothing new.

Also, lets not forget that football is a game....we shouldn't be surprised when grown men act silly or childish. It happens on every play when guys celebrate or talk smack.

Nothing to see here.

Tom Landry. A throwback even then. The last guy to wear a full suit and fedora on the sideline of every game - whether it was 30 below or 110 degrees.

He and Shula had to be the last 2 head coaches in the league to coach each game without a headset permanently attached to their heads. I would love to hear both of them talk about coaches these days. No collared shirts, trolling opponents, etc. lol

Mike Nolan wore a suit when he coached the Niners.

What about this bit of comedy from McD?

Mike Tomlin is not a great coach. He’s been riding the coattails of the system Cowher built and the exceptional personell department of the Steelers for years. He’s also a cheater. As is Bilichick, who wasn’t **** without Brady. Shula, Landry and Lombardi??? They were coaching at their best more than half a century ago. Tony Dungy a great coach? His biggest success was getting hired to coach the team Chucky built. Andy Reid didn’t win a Super Bowl until he got Mahomes, and his commercials aren’t exactly the most dignified things I’ve ever seen.

Molds are meat to be broken. History is littered with people who were absolutely ridiculed and ostracized by the establishment and conventional wisdom for daring to be different, and who, in the end, were supremely successful.

If McDaniel wants to make jokes and have fun on the sidelines, who are we to judge him for it, especially when he is wining?

Other than the transition in Defensive philosophy, Cowher was just gravy training on what Noll established.

So you can't even support your own assertion. Just "trust you," as though you're some kind of authority.
Dude, put your tool belt down, if you don’t think that Rex Ryan, Jim hardball John hardball Dan Campbel just to name a few don’t talkshit on the sidelines you’re as naïve as a come.

So again, shouldn't be hard to find video footage of that. Would've taken you less time to do that than to make the above post if it's that prevalent.

Again naïve
I haven't disagreed with you that it happens -- I've taken no position on the matter. I'm just waiting for you to support your own assertion. Doesn't appear that's forthcoming, however. We'll just have to "trust you" and pretend you're some kind of authority I suppose.

Go back under the bridge

I don't see anything there indicating Rex Ryan trashed talked directly at players on opposing teams during games. Nice try though.

Maybe give a little more effort and you'll be able to support your own assertion. Or you could always revert to "trust me" again -- that's super persuasive.
