McDaniel making $4.157 million this year?

And folks wonder why we have such little room under the cap. This regime has a habit of overpaying for production.
 
Good OLs and DLs are needed to win these days.

The Giants had a good pass blocking OL and they have the best pass rushing DL in the league.

Don't downplay the importance of the trenches.

That said, McDaniel was overpaid by Ireland two years ago.

McDaniel had a good year that year as a DT in our Nickel packages and was paid for his pass rushing abilities.

McDaniel really had a down year this past year. I think injuries had a bit to do with that as well.
 
That is a lot of money, but he can also start for many teams. He's a huge plus for rotation. Unfortunately we lost Langford but we still have a great rotation.

YB was scheduled to make 6.2 million this year and his cap savings were around 4.3 million by cutting him. McDaniel is scheduled to make 3 million, however his contract was backloaded and he earned like a million dollar bonus (I don't what it is for) so he is more around 4.2 million. If we cut him we save 3 million in cap room and 1.2 million will be dead space.

As for YB, I mean the team needed a FS and Reshad Jones is a SS. Are we really paying that kind of money for a guy while we continue to let Jones play out of position? Trust me, I'm not saying Tony McDaniel won't be cut either, he probably will be . . . but cutting YB was understandable.

The Giants wouldn't have 2 super bowls right now if it weren't for their FO being able to build the OL and DL.
 
I thought he signed the veteran exemption of 2 years/6 million last year. How did that balloon over to 4 million?
 
He probably should be cut, easily replaced. He was a good player but not for that price
 
We could have cut mcdaniel and use that money along with YB's savings and sign Winston.
