Just by looking at it, it looks like the Bills got more value for McGahee then we did for Welker. As they should have because McGahee is a starter in the league and Welker is not. However, if you break it down by the "Draft Value Chart", Miami actually appears to got more value in their trade. Don't know why I am comparing the two trades, but it was just something fun to look at. Below is what draft picks Miami and Buffalo got along with their value(in red) determined by the "unofficial" draft value chart.

Keep in mind that most team officials consider a pick next year to be less valuable then this current years. For example if you trade a 4th round pick this year, a 3rd round pick next year is the same value. A prime example of this actually taking effect is back in 2003 when Miami traded their 2004 2nd round pick for the Patriots 2003 3rd round pick. So, the pick value I am giving Buffalo for the 2008 pick is the same value of the first pick in the 4th round this year.

Miami Got:

2007 2nd round pick(60): 300
2007 7th round pick(219): 4.8
TOTAL: 304.8

Buffalo Got:

2007 3rd round pick(92): 132
2007 7th round pick(220): 4.4
2008 3rd round pick(220): 112
TOTAL: 248.4

Also, I didn't consider this a draft thread because it is more about the trades of the players.

I usually don't prescribe to the draft value charts but I do agree we got a great deal for a player that's arguably not as skilled as McGahee.

here is my value:
Wes taken off the street
Mcgahee traded for major player and out for a year and now being traded again anyways.

In the long term, no real value for Buffalo. For Miami, we got supreme value.

You have to factor in a couple of more things:

-McGahee was a 1st round draft pick and #1 RB

-Welker was an undrafted FA and our #3 WR/KR

I am not saying that Welker sucked but let's be real, we received great value for Welker in relation to what we paid out for him. Miami has needs in several areas and those draft picks are gonna help us address those needs.

Buffalo made a great move by trading McGahee...he was gonna walk next year no matter what.

I say both teams made good trades.

Buffalo got robbed, big time.

I agree, I didn't figure in how we aquired them. If you do that, Miami blows Buffalo out of the water.

Actually future draft picks have less value than existing one so the comparison is even more in favor for the Dolphins.

not even close because 1st of all if they where about equal as players we got the better deal anyway but then you consider the caliber of players and factor in that a RB is more valuable than a WR. and it's lopsided in our favor

I did do that. I gave the value of the 2008 3rd rounder the value of a 2007 4th rounder.

The Ravens are turning into my 2nd favorite team. They seem to love players from the U.

Edge, Portis, Gore.. McGahee was better than all of them. If he ever again comes close to playing at the level he did before the injury then he is one of the best players in the league. Even now he's still a starter. That we got arguably more for Welker than the Bills got for Willis is ridiculous. Bills were completely robbed and Mueller's doing a hell of a job.

We definatly got the better trade off because we got our picks from a third string receiver.

I wouldn't say the Bills got robbed. They were still able to get first day picks. It is just that their 3rd rounder this year occurs when their is only 4 picks left on day one.
