I am throwing it out there should McIntosh take over for W. Smith at left tackle when he gets totally healthy and enough reps in. Or should they plug him in somewhere else? Just wondering what everyone thinks.

The thing is W Smith has only played TE in college besides T. If D-Mac takes Smith's job, he'll be riding the bench.

I thought Smith actually played decent. i am keepin my eye on this though. smith has to step it up.

McIntosh is the mauler we need to improve the running game, and LT is the position where we need the mauler. Look what Jamal Lewis did this week without Jonathan Ogden -- he rushed for 50 yards against a team he rushed for 500 on last year. Smith is a weak run blocker. We need to have a dominant "side" of the line like great teams have. With James and McIntosh on the left side we can have that.

I feel he needs to step it up and show some improvement. He was forced into the lineup last year. Now he needs to prove he belongs in the starting lineup. I am one who actually thinks the line play is going to continue to improve and may actually end up being a strenght. I just hope it is not wishful thinking. If the line plays well, the offense will fall in place.

James has looked like crap since the preseason-a big disappointment to me so far-notice the preference to run to the right...behind St Clair-better hope Carey steps it up

I think this is a win, win situation for both. By that I mean I believe when McIntosh is healthy, he will be better at LT, however if he does get that spot, maybe that will motivate Smith to bring his A game!

This a darn fine question. I think McIntosh is definitely the better run blocker of the two(when healthy). He can dominate on the left side getting a nice pancake from time to time. But I feel he is as susceptible as Smith on the pass rush.

I guess I just need to see more film of them both in the passing situations and see where each are placing their hands on the rusher. To me in the pass rush Smith should be a touch more agile and be able to compensate, but if he is getting his hands to the outside he is going to be beat almost everytime.

I believe this is what happened against Freeny when we played to colts. Until Smith can learn to use his hands inside and put his strength in the center of the rushers chest, he will continue to be beat. I will pay more attention to McIntosh in those situations when I actually get to see him play.

- I think you have a point and taking it a step further , get the best guys on the field. I haven't seen James as a lock , yet. Wade seems O.K. and probably doesn't need his confidence yanked with. Is Mcintosh healthy enough? Why was Wanny (Yet another mistake) jerking with his LT when he doesn't have a guy to truly replace him? Why jerk with the guy in the press to begin with?

I agree with ya. Wanny said Smith played pretty well in the 1st half and kind of slipped in the 2nd half. He needs to be more consistent. I also think the line will get better as the weeks go on.

You don't have to be all that good to be playing better than Wade Smith right now, thats all I'll say about that.

Maybe it should have been a poll.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to McIntosh coming back and taking that LT job. Wade Smith has struggled.

-Anything Wanny has to say , we have to question. This week will help decide the Wade Smoith issue a little better.
