Dolphins | S. McKinney undergoes medical tests Monday
Mon, 7 Aug 2006 23:03:50 -0700
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/166">Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins OG Seth McKinney (neck) underwent medical tests Monday, Aug. 7, to determine whether he needs what could potentially be season-ending surgery, according to a source. Medical tests last week were inconclusive.

Seth was serviceable at C last year... he may not have been our best, but he made do with the skills he had to help us turn around the team. I wish him the best. Neck injuries are the worst career enders.

Further increases the chances of Toledo starting on opening day

dammit that sucks *** we need him to add to depth and possibly start its a shame when you possibly lose someone that could really help the team and have atleast an impact in jockeying for starting positions

Release him!! We dont need him
thats rubbish... we have no experienced center's apart from him... and whilst I'd rather we throw Toledo in there at RG.. McKinney is a nice guy to have around on the roster because of his flexibility.

He's an average player. Wade Smith is the backup center. At RG we have Toledo, Anderson and Berger.
This would not be much of a loss.
If need be we could probably find a replacement for him off the waiver wire.
Remember, this was a guy who tested FA and there wasn't even a nibble from other teams.

Uhh, his name is Hadnot...he was an all-American center in college. He played RG most of last year because we put the best 5 lineman on the field and he was less of a detriment for the team at RG, until he got some PT under his belt. At any rate, we have no experienced backup centers. I guess this means that Smith's training curve for the center position has just been accellerated.

While I have to admit I hate to see any fin players get hurt, it is my opinion that this will hurt us very little. There is no way Seth was gonna see the field unless someone got hurt. Seth could get bull rushed by the smallest of DTs and end up in the QBs lap...or worse yet on his butt at the QBs knees. If he had played RG he would need help every snap or we would be putting C-pep in danger or getting his knee damaged again.
Seth was not strong enough to start on a good OL. You won't see many players try and bull rush either Toledo or Anderson. Which ever one starts is clearly better than Seth and would have been one/two on the depth chart by the end of preseason. I kinda doubt Seth would have made the final roster.

sounds like a disc problem, if the test are inconclusive then he needs conservative care and that can take three to six months for a neck injury, unless the epidurals works

Which is not a good thing since he never played guard before. Still would have to be alot of injuries before he would start and if there were enough i'm sure we would sign a free agent. Toledo is not ready to be a starter. In fact carey would probably move back inside if we had that much injury problem. Bennie Anderson should easily win the guard position now.

The easy answer is to put him on the PUP list ...

'Just in case' ....

I am not a McKinney fan, but this COA 'could' provide a safety valve for both us and him ...

This is a tough loss boys. We will now have our back up center as Wade Smith. Its not that i dont have faith in Wade, its just when was the last time he was in a game or in a game as Center. Seth was great depth and just might have won a starting spot.

People will praise HH until there face is blue but will dismiss a player. Seth did well last year and he will be missed.

This opens a spot for Pearson and/or Alabi. I doubt that VC would move back to RG but if VC is a better RG and Pearson can stay healthy and Alabi is ready, then we may have something.

Again, it all comes down to HH. Also, brings up a agood point. How has Wade looked in TC thus far. Does anyone know?
