McKinney To Start At Center On Saturday

I thought he played a lot better against the Jags. He had the penalty but that was the only problem I saw all game. The running game worked and the QB's stayed upright.

Yeah I agree. In the Jag game he did look better. Hopefully he continues his progress but if he regresses to the old McKinney I would say that Frerotte better make a reservation for the whirlpool

Exactly what I was just thinking. McKinney does have patches of solid play, but he's alltogether too inconsistent. He needs to keep progressing. If he goes back to the old McKinney this week, I want Hadnot starting at C agaisnt Denver. End of story.
 
This is simply a bad omen. His hand technique is horrible. His hands are too slow and too low after the hike and never get out in front of the defender. As soon as the defender is into an offensive lineman's body the guy is toast. McKinney throws his body in front of the defender with strength and that works against defenders that can't swim or spin, but kills him against those that can. I can only hope Frank steps up so that Hadnot can give center another try. With McKinney there the QB will never feel comfortable stepping up into the pocket which is exactly what we need ours to do. Ever notice for the most part they are taking 9 step drops? Most of the pressure is coming from the edges because of the deep drops and I really think it is because our QBs are afraid to step up into the pocket. That is directly related to McKinney's performance.
 
I really don't think Seth is any good. I wish we would have picked up someone in the offseasone. Saban should get rid of him and try to interchange with someone else.
