Maybe but you can just feel the offense flowing better with the changes. Also his expereince brings value in and of itself. For example showing Brenner the fracture in the OL and how to fix it against The Rats. Thats something Martin definitely would not have noticed.

The real star is Brenner. He is playing outstanding, especially for his lack of draft status. We needed McKinnie's veteran mindset more than his physical ability, Martin is too weak upstairs for the NFL

McKinnie is not perfect but he's a better LT at 34 then Martin will ever be.

IF the Ravens knew then that trading McKinnie to us might be the reason we knock them out of the playoffs... guaranteed they'd have waited, then released him.

It is criticism of the Mike Sherman and Coach Turner....and yes Coach Philbin. They had a GREAT game as a staff Sunday. However, I question the in game adjusting.

Right because age, salary cap, injuries, coaching change and new system requirements don't matter, always have to take a shot at Ireland. Well it don't matter now since he got the FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK we so desperately needed..

Ireland is the reason why we drafted Tanny? If he didn't feel the pressure of being forced to draft a QB, it would've been another bust lineman of some sort. Let's all just be thrilled his dumb ass didn't pick weeden instead.

Very happy McKinnie is here. I don't care what the stats say. There was an immediate difference, and the whole line stabilized.

And I can't disagree with the sentiment that game after game after game there was a problem, and nothing was done about it. I think we could have won some more games if not for that.

Writing was on the wall with Jake Long...he optioned out of the last year of his contract. Yes, Ireland let him walk, he could have offered more money although that would have been bad business given the last 3 seasons Jake had ended the season with an injury. Regardless, he went into this season HOPING Martin would be the solution at LT...there was no contingency plan if Martin failed, there was no indication that Martin would be adequate enough at LT. The last 4 games of the season really didn't offer much hope of Martin stepping up but Ireland HOPED it would happen. I think Mike Lombardi said it best when referring to Ireland...he confuses hope for a plan.

In general, if you look at the Phinz games you should be able to see the HUGE DIFFERENCE pretty quick............Martin "Needed Help" but McKinnie "blocks ONE on One...NO Help". Now you should understand why the OL has improved. The Phinz now help only the Right tackle....NOT the Left Tackle. The Phinz no longer have to help BOTH tackles.........clearly you can see the difference now right. McKinnie saved the season simple by allowing da Phinz play makers to make plays. That's also why da Phinz MUST go HEAVY Cornfed in the 2014 draft....show me da OL BEEF :-)

There are better options than continuing to dump money at Jake Long. Sure, Martina obviously didn't pan out. Ireland bash all you want but other than OL we have a really solid team that is knocking on playoffs door. We will get a better OL this offseason since our cap is healthy due to his PLAN and be in better shape to take the next step next year.

I won't say I'm neutral because ultimately I'd like to see a new staff come in along with a new general manager and a new organizational structure that actually makes some modicum of sense in the NFL. I think it's probably better to establish all of that at one time rather than trying to piecemeal it. However, I'm not a guy that looks to find fault with Philbin or the staff all the time. I have nits with some of what they do, I also really appreciate some of the other things they do.

But the very first thing I thought when I read this was the same thing Hayden Fox said.

The Dolphins have an offensive line coach, an offensive coordinator who used to be an offensive line coach, and a head coach who used to be an offensive line coach. Yet, when it comes to something as simple as making an adjustment to a rookie's pass set to account for NE's defensive line stunting, none of those current and former offensive line coaches could idenitfy or fix the problem. They had to rely on a 34 year old veteran with a sordid past who had been with the team a bare few months in order to notice the problem and correct his TEAMMATE's pass set.

That doesn't concern anyone else? This is a nugget that brings on the warm and fuzzies?

Even putting that aside, Bryant McKinnie has a sordid past (and present) yet he's been put in position to be a leader on the team. That's exactly what got Miami into trouble with Richie Incognito.
