McKinnie suggested adjustment that helped stop the Patriots pass rush

with that said, coaches cant see as good as the players as to what is happening on the line. They need the players telling them what they are doing. constantly!

that is basically what mckinney did. His experience knew what it was and how to fix it.

When I played G in HS, the coaches were always asking us at halftime what the the Dlinemen were doing. stunting, punching, falling to their knees lol,

I won't say I'm neutral because ultimately I'd like to see a new staff come in along with a new general manager and a new organizational structure that actually makes some modicum of sense in the NFL. I think it's probably better to establish all of that at one time rather than trying to piecemeal it. However, I'm not a guy that looks to find fault with Philbin or the staff all the time. I have nits with some of what they do, I also really appreciate some of the other things they do.

But the very first thing I thought when I read this was the same thing Hayden Fox said.

The Dolphins have an offensive line coach, an offensive coordinator who used to be an offensive line coach, and a head coach who used to be an offensive line coach. Yet, when it comes to something as simple as making an adjustment to a rookie's pass set to account for NE's defensive line stunting, none of those current and former offensive line coaches could idenitfy or fix the problem. They had to rely on a 34 year old veteran with a sordid past who had been with the team a bare few months in order to notice the problem and correct his TEAMMATE's pass set.

That doesn't concern anyone else? This is a nugget that brings on the warm and fuzzies?

Even putting that aside, Bryant McKinnie has a sordid past (and present) yet he's been put in position to be a leader on the team. That's exactly what got Miami into trouble with Richie Incognito.

Or you could give the staff that is in the middle of only its 2nd season, time to find and establish its real leaders, while weeding out the ones who dont belong.

Kind of like how FH is doing with its gurus.

So you want to bring in an entire new coaching staff... for a young team on the cusp of the playoffs? Bring in an entire new coaching staff and new system for our QB and offense to learn, meanwhile our QB is budding right in front of our eyes as a potential star in the league... Are you serious dude? Philbin has done a very good job here. Sherman could be better, but he could also do a lot worse. Our line has improved ten fold ever since Martin and Incog left.

This team is very young and is getting better as time goes on. Have you not noticed the development of our players as well? This coaching staff does a very good job developing young players. Just look at the team and see how much home grown talent we have from the past 3 drafts.

What about our defensive coach? Want to replace him too? I dont get why you would want to replace the entire staff now when this team is starting to click and with the team being so young. It would be stupid to bring in a new coach for Tannehill.

Bringing up the Mckinnie thing makes no sense either. So what if they were O line coaches... McKinnie is right there... Right next to Brenner.. Its easier for him to notice.. Thats what having a Veteran on the team does for you. Thats like saying somebody should fire their defensive coach, because the MLB noticed something on the field and told his teamates about it.

Firing Philbin is about the DUMBEST thing this franchise could do at this point. And lets not forget that Philbin is still learning as well. Hes done a damn good job in only his SECOND SEASON AS A HEAD COACH.

If/When we make the playoffs this year with all the turmoil and injury's surrounding this team Philbin should be the top coach of the year candidate. No way he should be fired.

It's not. :(

But I was laughing pretty hard when I went to the IFP website (there is such a thing!) and looked it up.

Not sure whats more disturbing, the sick, twisted mind it took to come up with that gag or the mental image of Philbin and Sherman kicking major ass at table soccer.

I think there comes a point where finger pointing and critiquing finer points can miss the bigger picture. Despite the problems we have had on the field and off the field, in spite of having a free agent loaded team offset only by young developing talent devoid of continuity in leadership from last season.... a learning HC, developing franchise QB with only 1.5 years of college experience.... injuries at key positions with only youth to fill the void.... a fan base in turmoil and an organization separated from its legacies and devoid of proper leadership and organizational continuity...

We are improving, winning and shedding ourselves of problems.

Just as this team was left for dead, it has found a way to continue on it's path to improvement and find a way to win in manners usually expected from established winning organizations.

Leaders have been born in this fire. Removing the coals would be foolish. The manner in which this organization has finally shown a winning pulse with promise for the future has not come in an anticipated way. But we have finally acquired it.

This team has found itself when no one else wanted to claim it. The only problem I see is the fans are to afraid to finally believe.

Phins UP!

Truer words have never been spoken. Now watch us get demolished by the Bills and Jets.
