ive always preached to my non-phin fan friends that mcmichael is a top 5 TE in the NFL. Im wondering why it seems that he always drops off in production in the second half of the season? heres some stats from his last couple years:

2002
1st 8 games - 339 yards, 5 TDs
Last 8 games - 146, 0 TDs

2003
1st 8 games - 392 yards, 2 TDs
Last 8 games - 206 yards, 0 TDs

2004
1st 8 games - 535 yards, 3 TDs
Last 8 games - 256 yards, 1 TD

2005
1st 8 games - 270 yards, 4 TDs
Last 8 games - 311 yards, 1 TD

2005 was the first year he had more yards in the second half but only caught one TD pass in the final 8 games. we did win 7 of those last 8 but he started the year with 4 TD in 4 games. If he finished like that he would finally make the Pro Bowl. All it will take is one full year of production and he will be in Hawaii.

I was listening to Takeo Spikes on the NFL Network last night and he said he thinks that DC will be looking to McMike a lot this year. He will be the guy DC targets if the receivers are not open...kind of as a last option, rather than having DC scrambling around or running for yardage.

I think the main question with McMike is his concentration...just like CC, he will make some great catches and then often drip the gimmes.

it mite be becuz alot of teams now have film on his first half of the season, nd now they can figure out a way 2 stop him, also maybe becuz he has been or only good TE this past few years nd there hasnt been any1 there 2 give him a break nd by the second half of the season he is toast

Its just so tough for him to make the pro bowl in the afc. hes got to compete with gates, heap, gonzo, kellen winslow, miller, and clark.

i would love for him to do it but i doubt itll happen. TE in the afc is real competitive!

Yes, its true. But, despite the competition Mc Mike is not that far away from that level. He is due for a breakout year. In today's league a sure handed TE is a must. and Mc Mike more than suffices. He just gets overshadowed because of the hype surrounding those other TEs.

i think your right, culpepper will find mcmichael open much more when he needs to scramble out the pocket

We hear this every year...McMike to pro bowl. I fear it will not happen this year too. The other TE's are much better then him.

Speak for yourself. He has all the skills in the world to make it, BUT NOW..... he has the QB to compliment. We're going to have a lot of probowlers this season.

I'm not as high on McMichaels as I have been in the past. He dropped a few balls last year that weren't easy catches but were catchable and if he would have held onto them we could have kept some drives alive. I think he'll have a great opportunity this year I just hope he takes advantage of it.

Ima goin' with Stank...Daunte knows all about the tight end... McMike will be a "factor" this year, wait and see... I do not know if he's going to get past the others but he has never had a better opportunity to show what he has than this upcoming year.

Probably a big reason for the jump in 2005 is the fact that the rest of the team didn't fold going down the stretch, as was our practice prior...McMike is a good TE, but not in the top 5, specifically because he tends to disappear at times, but that is just my opinion...

ya cant ignore that our passing game has been sub-par for years now.... remember cris carter being shocked how many balls hit the ground in practice ?!? things have changed around here and we'll have a better oppurtunity to display the talents of our skilled players. CC has already been raised a notch and i expect the same from Randy and Marty this year...... As for the pro-bowl....... not a long shot randy gets in this year.

Theres many great TE's in the afc.Its going to be hard for him to make the probowl anytime soon.

That will definitely change this year with C Pep under center, he will find McMichael on a regular basis.

If I remember right I think he actually had all 5 of his td's in the first 5 games last season. Then he didnt catch one for the rest of the season.
