the second half of the season.....McMichael Disappeared....I really cant think of one play the last 8 games that stands out....Im sure there are a few...but man that guy was missing. If he could play 16 games...he would be dangerous. You know what though??? Last year was the year of the TightEnd....this year...you hardly heard Gonzales's name (cant spell sorry)...or Heap...or Gates...real quiet year for the TightEnds.

I thought of this yesterday, but maybe it's a good thing. As McMichael's pass-catching role has diminished, Chambers and Booker took off. McMichael is still a good-to-great tight end, but I'd rather see longer completions to Chambers/Booker/etc. than a bunch of five yarders to McMike.

Maybe McMike will pull a Chambers next year and finally break out after years of "decent" play?

i believe mcmike's numbers are down due to the fact he has been more involved in pass blocking than route running. an upgrade to the o-line would do wonders for his stats.

Gates had an amazing year, Todd Heap really came on in the 2nd half after nagging injuries and Tony Gonzalez still had a boatload of catches and yards just not TDs...I just think this offense is more dedicated to the WRs and RBs than TEs...Can you even name the TEs during Linehan's tenure? Jermaine Wiggins? I just think he's not a focal point.

I think in the current system, McMichael is playing the right role...keep in mind that as McMichael "disappeared", Brooks and Chambers "appeared"...

Lets give the system one more year to develop and re-assess then.

Then Linehan should make him a focal point....no way a talent like McMichael (and the amount of money we are paying him) should not be heavily involved in the passing attack. We'll re-evaluate this offense next year.

He dropped plenty of passes the second half of the season as well. He's definitely inconsistent. I'm a huge McMichael fan but I don't think the guy stays focused for every play.

At the start of this season I thought Randy was our best offensive player, but he didn't really do much in the 2nd half of the season in terms of catches and yards.

He had two awefull, devastating fumbles in games we lost that we should have won as well...

I like Randy, I hope next year he playes better. Man, it is going to be an exciting offseason if you're a Dolphan. ;)

Winning is more important than stats, you... Oh skip the name calling, I don't wanna get yelled at.

last year, mcmichael had 70+ receptions. his dropped passes may be just a short term problem. he had to drop a critical pass in many games down the stretch after an incredible start to the season, but that doesn't mean this will continue. he had a great year in 2004.

him staying in to block had more to do with his disapperance than his drops i think at least.

I think alot of the problem is that he was asked to stay in to block. When he did go out for passes, he was used more as a safety valve reciever running release plays and out into the flat, and less of the deep, WR-type routes he has excelled at in the past.

I was very underwhelmed with him this year. Yes, I know that he was kept in to block a great deal of the time, but it sure seemed like he dropped at least one pass a game.

Don't want to re-name him McDrops yet, like James McDrops McNight, but he needs to be much more consistent.

I think Saban may need to say that he is a "decent" TE. Maybe that will fire him up, like it appeared to do with Chambers.

If it were possible to trade him, I would do it in a second. I have no concept of salary cap ramifications, but nobody provided less value for the money than he did this year. I also think that Lo Diamond provides similar pass catching ability and yac ability as McMike, so if you trade him for a third or fourth round pick I don't think you weaken the offense at all and you possiblty upgrade at another position.
