I'm still waiting for the stat page that shows # of drive killing drops, and disappearing acts during the most crutial times of a game or season.

I remember just a few years ago when I couldn't wait for McMichael to become a superstar... I argued with others about how good he was...

Yeah a few years ago, we where all arguing with the world about how "Great" McMichael was going to be. We all said he was the next big thing, man were we ever wrong about this guy. He has a terrible attitude, and is non existent when we need him most. But now that I think about it, we also said how great Chambers is and look how that one turned out. For all of you that still hold on to the whole not having a pro-bowl QB thing, well if the ball gets there it really doesnt matter who throws it now does it.

McMichael hasn't exactly lived up to the hype, but with Cam's offense he will certainly need to show up next season. It will be make or break for McMike next year IMO.

I think McMichaels has suffered from taking a beating on the offensive line. He's had to do a plethora of over time work blocking for our offense that last two years and it shows.

I think once he's back to being used primarily as a reciever he'll bounce right back. His contract could use restructuring.

Have to agree on this one. We've all been saying and waiting for him to break out and become one of the top TE's in the league. He's been OK at best. This last year, he disappeared (primarily due to the OC having him block like an extra lineman), but still his numbers were pretty low. 3Td's and 600 yards. I understand all the fancy stat #'s and computations, but when it came down to yards, catches and TD's he ranked closer to 11 or 12, not 8. I and most phin fans expect better numbers from him than that. Now, with Cam calling the plays and knowing how a good TE can truly be a weapon, we will see this year if RM is truly a top TE talent or merely another "could-have-been". I'm hoping he proves he's what we've all been hoping for in him this year. Because we can't afford to add TE to our "holes to be filled" list anytime soon. We have enough of those already.

This means there are 24 other starting TEs who rank LOWER than McWifeBeater? Wow... Doesn't say much for the league's TE position...

Obviously Randy wasn't used properly last year, like most of the team. This year will be different, Cam has a clue, as did Linehan.

Dude, that's one of the TE's duties, is blocking. It's not overtime, it's part of his job description. If he can't do both, you telegraph to the other team whether it's a run or a pass. Plus, he drops too many, and fumbles... he's not a pro bowl TE.

:sidelol: Your right there brotha...Although I would like to see him succeed, he needs to get his head in the game. Also forgot to mention the 2 interceptions which were a direct result of him tipping and dropping passes

Yes, this year he dropped to many passes...But as far as fumbling - he does not - In his 5 year career, he only has 5 fumbles and only one of them was lost. And no fumbles in 2006

There are TE's that specialize in blocking and TEs that specialize in recieving. Tony Gonzales has never been accused of being a great or even solid blocker but the man is probably headed to the hall of fame. Who was the last great blocking TE to make the hall?

A TE's main job, in today's NFL, is to make plays down field. Ofcourse, he should also be able to help out when needed on the Oline which McMichael has had to put overtime(it becomes overtime on a 3rd down when the TE should be running a pattern but is forced to stay in and block for lack of a mediocre OL) work into.

So what happens when you take a guy who specializes in one thing and ask him to specialize in something else(Mora forcing Vick into the WC or Johnson making Marino sprint 5 yards to give a hand off)? The same thing that has happened to McMichael, the overall play suffers.

And with all that said, with all the excuses I just made for him, with all the drop passes, he's still the #8 TE in the NFL.
