Jeremy Green was on ESPNEWS and said McNair won't be with the Titans and doesn't think he will retire and says Miami is the perfect fit for McNair with Brown, Williams returning because Saban "loves him", Chambers, and McMichael. Also with another offensive linemen or two he says we will be a playoff team next year. Rivers and Cullpepper are also possiblities but Cullpepper being less likely because of his injury.

I honestly hope we don't get McNair. His best days are behind him and he spends lots of time hurt. We need a younger guy behind center.

We can draft a quarterback and have two very experianced quarterbacks to teach him in Frerotte and of course McNair.

Culpepper and McNair no. Volek's handling the O better than McNair and Culpepper is a fumble machine. We can get a QB elsewhere.

What other QB do you exactly have in mind then? McNair could be a very good option for us next season because he seems to be the type of QB that can play well under this offense. Sure he is old and he doesn't play all games, but that doesn't mean that he sucks. He is still one tough SOB and he still has plays left him in. I'm sure starting him for a year wouldn't hurt him a bit. He is also a greta leader that can fire you up to make plays.

I like McNair, I really do, I just think that he might end up wanting to be paid in the short run like he is still a league MVP type QB. He's not. This is why I have been saying that, for our money, Kerry Collins might be a guy to look at over Steve McNair because Collins isn't in a very good bargaining position to ask for a bunch of money where McNair might have a better bargaining position.

Heck I could see Collins signing for like $3 million over 2 years (or a 3 year contract that pays him $3 million in the first two years, with like some ridiculous $7 million salary in year 3 that everyone knows he'll never collect). But McNair? He might ask for $8 million in the first two years (all told, signing bonus plus salaries) and if he doesn't get it he could be in position to say well, fine I'll just hang it up...I've had a good career.

Now, if McNair decides that Miami is the place to be if he wants to win a championship before he retires (and after Saturday's game, I wouldn't be surprised if he concludes that), then it is possible Miami can get away with paying him very little just because he wants to come down here and win a championship. But, overall, I do not find this to be a very LIKELY outcome. Possible, plausible, but not likely.

No thanks on McNair. Id rather have him over Gus, but I hope we can get a qb that will be more than a stop gap. We need to find a QB who will be here for awhile.

I'm not really enthusiastic about the QB's out this offseason with an exception if Brees comes out. I agree, McNair can maybe do all that. But keep in mind his injury history as well as the fact that with the same offense, Volek puts up better numbers. If we get him fine, it's not the end of the world and we better have a backup plan other than Lemon for if McNair gets his final Seau-like injury. People are already bashing Seau on this forum, at times unjustly. What will happen with McNair? But I'd prefer if we focus on other players rather than an aging QB.

As for Culpepper. He's got inflated stats thanks to having Randy Moss and Cris Carter. Take a look at his fumbles. That's a no-no. And you can tack on that Love Boat fiasco. Brad Johnson is doing better than Culpepper with the same offense. Gus > Johnson. We might as well keep Gus, not a very appetizing choice, over an expensive dud like Culpepper.

How about letting McNair play next year to see how far he can bring this team and if that doesn't work out miami should draft Brady Quinn in 2007

Everything's good compared to Gus. They were good in the past. Not anymore.

not . good . anymore? ok, please explain how a very tough, good leader, accurate QB, whose playing pretty good this year on a 4-11 football team isnt good anymore.

or a QB that had one of the best seasons for a QB last year in the history of football. I fail to see how a few bad games while supposibly being injured negates his whole career.

Notice how when McNair went down last year, Volek put up insane stats. In the Tennessee game, McNair got benched for Volek, who's passer rating in that game was about 80 pts higher than McNair's. That tells me it's probably the system that's making McNair look good. Don't get me wrong, McNair's fine. But he's not the answer. As our backup, he'll be a decent choice. But I don't think he can start and win games at a consistent rate.

A few bad games? Even during that best season, he managed to acquire a lot of fumbles and sacks. His stats in 02-03 are abysmal, suggesting this isn't an isolated incident. He's been racking up double digit fumbles (least was 9 last year) each season. He holds onto the ball too long and that's how he ends up getting sacked. Culpepper can't handle pressure. And that Love Boat thing? Is that what we want in a leader?

McNair is too old!!:wheels:

We need to get our Qb of the future!!

And why can't we get both. Our "QB of the future" is just that. He won't be ready to start next year (Not if we want to win, right Buffalo :sidelol: ). Having McNair and Frerotte to teach a QB we draft this year (Jay Cutler) is a great plan. One I really hope happens.
