Rd. 2 (63): Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU (from DEN)

He is one of my favorite players in this entire class, and he's pound-for-pound the toughest, most physical skill-position player in this draft, and he has the best ball skills of any receiver. He doesn't have great top-end speed which is why he wound up going in the late second round, but he does all the little things well and catches everything. He'll do well in Miami. The Dolphins took Ja'Wuan James much earlier than where I had him graded, but I don't think he's a bad pick because he's an efficient blocker who fits their system.

He says every player is his most favorite player in the draft.. Grain of salt.

We'll see when the game starts who is who.

Landry gives us more options. I'd love to know if he was the 2nd round player we had targeted all along and they were just content to let him slide to pick up the extra draft picks? That's taking a pretty big risk. We will never know.
Allen Robinson was only taken a couple of places ahead of Landry. He was the player I was hoping for, but Landry is so tough, he could be better.

I actually said this in another thread, but I think the Dolphins kept trading back in the 2nd round with Miller as their target because they knew he would still be on the board. When it was time to make their pick, they were surprised that Landry was still there and they had him rated higher so they selected him. They still wanted Miller, so they decided to make the big move up in the 3rd round so they could select him also. In their mind they got two players that they really liked instead of one.

It has been said elsewhere already I think but when I watched the film of Beckham, I came away very impressed with Landry. I also noticed that on quite a few routes where there was an extra defender responsible for noth players they chose to follow Landry creating a opportunities for Beckham.

Teams fall in love with speed -

Football is not a track race...three names of 4.6+ great NFL receivers...one the best ever...one a Dolphin.

Anquan Boldin....Mark Clayton.....Jerry Rice.

The average fan makes the mistake of thinking track speed is football speed....go watch the game film...football is more about quickness than track speed....its about the hands..ability to separate....go up and get the ball.

This is a great kid who is a baller and gets it....oh yeah...and he doesn't drop the ball.

Miller? Kinda early to be so drunk, isn't it?

He's not starting over Hartline, Matthews... and maybe not even Gibson this season

I expect the new offense to have a higher percentage 3 and 4 receiver sets. I expect balanced play selection with high expectation for productivity from the running game. Receivers that block well are worth a lot in that type of offense. I expect Landry will get plenty of playing time. Gibson and Mathews had better learn to be physical blockers if they want to stay ahead of Landry. Landry is the perfect choice for type of offense I expect to see. It is important to remember a player moves up and down in value based upon the scheme of each team. This was Ireland's critical failure. Landry's blocking ability had to raise his value within the scheme I expect. For the expected scheme, Landry was an incredible value.

Mark Clayton ran a 4.6???? Was he running backwards? Dude ran a 4.4. Marks Brothers known for speed. Clayton could also jump out of the building.

I think Dennis got some kids that can help starting in August
