Why do some of us(one is too many) still look for respect from the media? This is not an attack on fellow dolfans but it amazes me to read posts where we complain about this so-called "expert" and that so-called "genius." One, they're paid to be controversial. Two, they can basically say anything they want, no matter how outlandish, and then do a complete 180 down the road realizing there's no accountability in their profession.

Take espn. No I won't go the "they hate us - they have a bias against us route" but think about the people that work there. And this applies to other outlets as well. Look at Mr. ESPN C. Berman and you should remember (he won't let us forget) he is a devout jills fan. It's a good guess he was a fan back in the 70s right? He's 50 now so as a teenager you just know our phins ruined his formidable sports years. It pains him to say anything positive about the Dolphins.

Our Phins have the best record since the merger, so several other sports personalities who are not MIA fans have their own fuel. Last year was their year to kick the Dolphins. Pent up frustration if you will. But the reaction was funny because they made it seem as if that was the norm. Sorry BUF, NYJ and NE fans but that was just a little bump. Everything is back to normal. Maybe it's a case of semantics but I wouldn't call it a bias. For what ever reasons, you just get the feeling that they (professional & regular fans) were waiting for the Dolphins to have a losing season.

This is just my opinions, my thoughts, hoping to spark a healthy discussion.

Well said. I think one of the reasons people are so ticked off by the things that some of the talking heads say is that the heads are geting paid for their opinions. When they say realy dumb things or offer opinions that they have no basis for it makes us jealous that they have such a great gig even when they may not know what they are talking about. The thing that irritates me is when anouncers or desk guys say things that make it clear they havnt devoted any real time to the team they are talking about.

No way, man. I won't be happy till we're ranked in the top 5 on every friggin power rankings list on the internet. WHERE'S OUR RESPECT?!?!?!!?!?!

;)

F**K Chris Berman and F**K ESPN. They have us ranked lower than ANYONE else does. Who cares what an overpaid fat a$$ thinks about our team. Screw them!!!

no one hates the dolphins. every single team thinks the media hates their team (heard some patriot fans speaking of this at the watercooler just the other day). whatever, i have other things to occupy my time

We will be ranked in the top five as soon as our record and stats demand it.

Still out there because it hasnt been earned yet!!!!

The ESPN commentators don't really bother me.

They may not be high on the fins, but at least they have a sense of humor and actually know football. It isn't easy picking teams. There is so much uncertainty involved.

The Dolphins are notorious for fading down the stretch of the season, so you can't really blame them.

It's the local sportscasters that really rile me up. Especially that flake on channel 7. I'm amazed he has not been fired or worse by now...:fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire:

I was being sarcastic!!!!!

Also I like how a thread like this that preaches just a tad bit of modesty barely gets and recognition, but any thread made proclaiming how great we are or how the media is ignoring us gets around 10 pages of replies.

We could very well be 2-3 next Sunday night.

Yeah, this is true, and it always makes me laugh. The rest of the country has long accused the Dolphins of being "media darlings" while there's always a contingent of Miami fans whining about the "bias" against their team.

If you work in national media, there are 32 teams to cover. Miami wasn't expected to do that well, but they look better than expected so far. That makes a story - one among many. And right now, to be honest, not a huge story in the overall picture. To make note of it isn't jumping on any "bandwagon."

I find the preoccupation with getting "respect," in media coverage or from other fans, kind of silly. Predictions, opinions, all the rest - it's just part of sports media. And the fans love it - or there wouldn't be so many outraged threads on here whenever someone dares to place Miami "too low" on a power ranking.

As long as the players respect themselves, their coaches, and their opponents (by that I mean not taking any team for granted), we don't need anyone to respect us. We'll earn that in due time. Let the media talk their talk; we'll watch our team walk the walk. My only regret is that no one else nationally will get to watch the rebirth because we don't have any prime time games. And that's too bad because I think we've got something special going on.

I was just watching Baseball tonight.... that ex- player John whoever keeps saying that the Padres vs. Cardinals series is over, which i think is just a stupid statement. Sure he's most likely right, but.... He went on to say that "sure the padres could win a game, maybe if a cardinal got injured or something, but it's over.. it's over..... it's over." This is just another example.
