Miami remains mum on No. 1 overall pick

A few notes from my second first-round projection for April's NFL draft:

• The most notable change between my initial first-round projection and this one is that I have Virginia defensive end Chris Long going No. 1 overall to the Miami Dolphins. This is based on discussions with various NFL sources; however, Boston College QB Matt Ryan is still a distinct possibility to be the first pick. If Ryan goes No. 1 overall, then Long would go No. 2 to St. Louis, and Atlanta would take DT Glenn Dorsey with the third pick. The sources with whom I have spoken have no concerns about Dorsey's medical history.

Dorsey is the pick! Biggest impact player available, the whole defense will be elevated by his presence.

Yet Peter King writes this:

SI.com's Peter King writes that he hasn't "talked to a soul in the last week" who believes the Dolphins will take Matt Ryan No. 1 overall.
If the Dolphins don't trade out, Jake or Chris Long would make sense. Vernon Gholston is a darkhorse to go first. Ryan generated mixed reviews at his Pro Day and Miami should be able to get a nice QB prospect at No. 33 overall.

Someones lying and my money is on Kiper. Watch him cry on national television if his pick isn't selected where he thinks they should be. Obviously Kiper is covering his backside with his half hearted effort at making a pick.

I respect Kiper for his ability to analyze talent, but the dude has become poor at doing mocks and really projecting players where they should go. Mike Mayock IMO is the best out there right now.

While I'm on Kiper, ESPN better go for a 2nd straight year of NOT saying who the pick is before it's made. From 2004 to 2006 Boomer would always say who the pick was right before the commish came to the podium. That ruins the surprise of draft day. If anybody has NFL Network, I highly recommend watching them on draft day, they not only have better analysts than ESPN, but Scheffter is actually a good insider and actually tells us what's actually going on behind the scenes. Only bad thing about NFL is their crew is always (or atleast the past couple years) have been placed in the most inconvieniant areas of the arena. Made the draft very distracting last year. Though ESPN was better last year without Boomer ruining picks and without Irvin.

The're all guessing. Parcells isn't going to let ANYONE know who the Dolphins will be selecting until the pick is made....we can all guess...but only a very few will know.

sorry finsgonnarock06.. but with Randy Starks and Jason Ferguson coming in, I highly doubt Parcells would take Dorsey. Not to say dorsey is not good, but we have bigger needs that either long could fill.

jake will be our pick, even if he isnt joe thomas or fergason
what would a rebuilding team team do with a "franchise" olb, chris long is no merriman and wont make enough of an impact as an olb, no matter how good he becomes to warrent a number 1 pick

there is no reason for us to waste, which is exactly what it would be, a pick before round 5 on a qb. you dont think beck is the answer, we dont need an answer yet, we need to build a team, if beck trully hurts this team, highly doubt he will, mccown will mannage this team at best and his a lot, a lot better than lemon was last year. lets not be last in run b and have some kind of o line in place before we look for our tom bradys or payton mannings

Chris Long is not suited to be a DE in the 3-4 defense when he's only 6'3" 270

Just curious:rolleyes2: if Zach Thomas was the perfect size to play middle linebacker because "if you remember"he was undersized and had an outstanding career
