The Miami Dolphins currently have a big hole to fill at tight end, as quarterback Ryan Tannehill needs a big, reliable safety valve in the middle of the field. Dolphins coach Adam Gase has made good use of tight ends in previous stops with the Denver Broncos (Julius Thomas) and Chicago Bears (Martellus Bennett), but he didn’t get the same production from that position in his first year in Miami.

I personally think Miami must resist temptation to draft a TE. Defense wins Championships. Unless it is OJ Howard. He is just a freak of an athlete. Other than that it should be LB and DE. first and foremost. The linebcking position has been neglected for the long years.

Unless we draft Njoku or Howard, I wouldn't touch a TE until the 5th round in this draft

Yeah as a TE would help on the fifth or even fourth draft!

We need a TE that would be much more than a safety valve in Gase's offense. I doubt we take one early though.

Howard will very likely be gone and I believe it will be in our best interest to go defense. LB is my hope. We will need to hit OL and TE at some point, but round one go defense

Martellus Bennett is going to be a free agent and as said Bennett did work with Gase

No thanks.

Why pay for a free agent on the wrong side of 30 when you can get a young TE draft pick and pay 1/4 of what you would pay a free agent...and have him locked up for 4 years.

I agree, but for a different reason. The reason teams pay more for vets is their ability is proven. My philosophy is the only teams that should go after a top FA are those "one piece away" or want to show fans they are trying to turn around a floundering franchise. Miami is neither. I'd rather have the 5th best TE AND 5th best OG than only the best TE.

Id love to get Howard or Njoku on this team with our 1st rounder. I think Njoku is a little bit of a reach at our spot, but he is a baller, and his the way he plays the game, it would be greatly welcomed on this team. Id be ecstatic if we drafted one of them.

you might be able to get sprinkle in the 5th...his senior bowl showing dropped him significantly

theres depth but a lot of it is of the h back variety

Because Dolphins gonna Dolphins....

I agree, I really want a TE, but if it's not Howard, you have to go LB, unless there is a much better Pass-rushing option at DE then LB. If the TE depth is so good this year, Miami should get chances at TE in the 2nd, or 3rd (Hopefully Miami gets that 3rd for Vernon).

if njoku comes in under 6 foot 4 like I expect I think Miami would pass but I wouldn't rule him out at 22...probably be a lb or a de

I'm gonna lean lb because the pickins are gonna be rather slim at 54 and beyond there and the de group at 22 will probably carry some questions

depending on what's done in free agency I could see a tim Williams as a situational rusher weak side top pick or a Charles harris as a weak de....Charles harris in the wide 9 with his get off and explosion and spin move could be a lethal combo...even if the run d is pretty bad...wide 9 I don't think it would matter as much

Miami might look for the pure pass rush talent at 22 over the well rounded de and I think harris is more a 43 de than a 34 olb type

I would still re-sign Dion Sims. He contributed well and has improved every season since being drafted. In addition we can draft another TE this year.
