He was just on ESPN saying that we shouldve taken matt ryan #1 if we were going to take a qb. He said if we were going to take a qb and beck was not 'the guy' we should have taken the best one.
 
ok, did he mention how many OTs came off the board in the 1st round? and does he realize we had zero LT's on our roster going into the draft? every monday following every draft, he goes into attack mode on teams that ruined his almighty mock
 
Lol.. ok.. Kiper made a huge mistake by making that quote. So what he is saying is we should have taken Brohm with the 1st pick as he is the best QB in the draft
 
Mel being Mel. Kiper praised the Dolphins all of last week for taking Jake Long, now he says we should've taken Matt Ryan? This is why I can't stand Kiper, too much flip-flopping. Kiper would've made a great politician.
 
That makes me believe that they don't nessicarily think beck is not the guy, rather bring in some competition for him. If they were sold on the idea beck wasn't the guy, then ryan might have gone number 1 overall. So kipper's read on our "mistake" is on the pressumption that we dont' think beck is our guy. Which he's guessing on.

But to think a solid prospect at LT is a mistake is not accurate in my opinion. He'll end up helping all our young qb's and our other offensive players like brown (running/catching), ginn (more time to get down field) and start some young chemistry on a very talented young oline who will have years to develop a good relationship on and off the field.
 
and how many NFL front offices has Mel Kiper worked? Oh, that's right NONE. Ol' Mel just likes the sound of his own voice.

I never liked Matt Ryan.

Kiper also said the Patriots made a mistake by drafting a 190 pound corner when his guy, a 210 pound corner Godfrey (think Jason Allen) was still on the board. Kiper is smart, but he gets it wrong sometimes.

I would agree if I thought that was the reason they took Henne.

I think they recognized the value in grabbing Henne so late, and they just want to cover their *****, in case Beck doesn't work out. I think they feel Beck will turn out all right, though. Otherwise, they would have taken a QB with one of their first two picks... they waited until their 3rd pick (and Henne could easily have been taken between their 2nd and 3rd). But there is a school of thought that you should always be drafting QBs. Hell, even the Patriots drafted a QB somewhat early, and I doubt there's any QB controversy there!

If Henne had been taken by the Packers (instead of Brohm), I'm not so sure the Dolphins would have taken Brohm!
 
Kiper was just visably annoyed at the Dolphins for taking Henne. He kept saying over and over and over how its an indictment of John Beck. I swear Kiper is a Dolphins fan because he took that pick very, VERY personal.

Either that or he is John Beck's father...
