Memorial Day

Right on brother. Watching the news is almost painful these days, despite your channel of choice. Regardless of your beliefs on particular issues, we live in a damn good country and that is thanks to those that were willing to sacrifice. Our folks in the armed services deserve nothing but respect for defending and protecting us all.

Happy Memorial Day. Let us honor the unsung heros who make our lives and way of life possible.

Thank you armed forces, current and past. To the brave men and women who protect our freedom we so flippantly take for granted, we humbly bow our heads in respect. For our fallen brethren who have made the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives in defense of our freedom, we place our hats over our heavy hearts.

These words reflect nowhere near the appreciation that you deserve, but please accept them as an expression of our deep gratitude and the great difference you have made in the world … Thank You.

happy memorial day all, especially to those that have lost love ones while enlisted. May yall feel the culinary and backyard bbq post for me today as I live vicariously thru your post while working (I could've had day off but chose to work since im on 4 day vacation next weekend) Grill up, or if yall are on the east coast like me, bake and fry up in doors and stay dry

"Many gave some. Some gave it all"
This is something we should reflect on every single day. I salute all veterans from my dad who served on WW2 to my wife's dad and her sister who both served in Irak and Afghanistan to everyone else that has serve. This is not about cooking out. These is about those that keep us safe.

Thanks for starting the thread, bother John. I appreciate all the sacrifices our military men and women have endured to make our great country what it is.
As for me....its been three days of visiting with family that's in town, plenty of Coronas, BBQing, and Yankees baseball.

I'm a member of a face book group "retired Navy Chiefs" and today one of our members posted a picture of his hero, his son who was killed last year in asscrackastan...absolutely heart breaking.

This day makes me feel very lucky to have 4 healthy kids, one who was a hospital corpsman with the 9th marines and the youngest going to Paris Island the 18th of next month.

My 20+ years on active duty is nothing compared to those who lose a loved one...anywho...just figured I'd share.

Growing up in a military family like I did, gives you a certain appreciation for those who serve in the military. My dad served in Korea my uncles served in World War II and my cousin's served in Vietnam. Several of my family members were wounded in combat and had to deal and live with those injuries for the rest of their lives after returning home. As a young boy I remember my uncle's dealing with certain health issues directly linked to their wounds. The only thing keeping me from joining the military was the fact,
I was born disabled and having a disability disqualifies you from military service. At least that was the case for me. Anyway this is the day to reflect for all of us; a day for all to appreciate the freedoms others fought so hard for us to keep. God bless all!!!
