Merge: R.I.P. Cory Lidle

I just turned on the TV. This is awful, awful news. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and the Yankees.

Really makes you think about life and how sports are meaningless in the long run.

Yes and yes.

I'm holding back tears right now. One day he's pitching in the playoffs. Three later, he's dead. There are just no words.
 
By all accounts Lidle was a guy with a big heart who was a great teammate and an even better person. Death is always a tragedy but an untimely death is the most unfortunate situation imaginable. I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and teammates and I hope that there will be no more unnecessary heartbreak resulting from this incident.
As a Yankee fan it seems like God is just kicking the entire Yankees' organization in the nuts right now, but I guess we all have our mountains to climb in life. Unfortunately it seems like some mountains are a lot taller than others, and some are just too much to overcome. As I said, hopefully any further tragedy associated to this incident is as limited as possible, and my deepest condolences to the victim's family members.

Let's do it for Lidle in 07...
