06 1st rd pick possibilities

Here is a list of 5 players that I think would best fit our team if they are available in the upcoming NFL draft. Sorry to say, but I can't wait for it.

1) Matt Leinart: Every teams 1st round pick unless your the 49ers or Texans. (David Carr will stay in Houston, because they realize he isn't the reason why they are doing so bad). Leinart will be a star in the league. Very accurate and has the size and attitude to win in the NFL.

2) A.J Hawk: A phenomenal athlete. He's fast and very smart, would be a perfect upgrade to aging Seau. Hawk and Crowder would make things fun to watch in Miami for years to come.

3) Jimmy Williams: Guy is built like a safety but plays great football at CB. He could step in from day 1 and be our #1 CB. Poole will come back from his injury as a nickle back and with the addition of Williams, the Dolphins could get back to the old defense as they used to.

4) Marcus McNeil: I know a lot of you are saying no right now, but listen. McNeil is a monster. He's a true LT. In my opinion he will be a better LT than D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Ferguson hasn't jumped out at me as a legit top 5 pick. Ferguson will probably move to RT in the NFL. Also look out for Jon Scott from Texas.

5) Haloti Ngata: Alright guys, he might not fill a huge need right now, but Traylor is very old, our D-line overall is aging. Ngata is athletic and has the size to anchor a 3-4 defense. If Saban ever dreams about turning his defense into a 3-4, he will need a guy like Ngata. Solid pick in my eyes.

There's 5 guys and reasons why I feel we should draft each. It would sure be nice to have em all, but I know it will never happen. Tell me what you guys think and who you would like to have. Go Dolphins!

If we can't get Leinart (or Quinn or Young for that matter), I think Saban looks to trade down 4-5 spots. We might still be able to get AJ Hawk or Jimmy Williams there (Ngata and McNeill are monsters and will probably be off the board), plus pick up an extra pick.
Since Saban really wants to implement that 3-4, it makes sense to go with a linebacker or a defensive lineman here. I'm sensing AJ Hawk

I don't think we need Williams really. Apart from Moulds there are no good receivers above 6 foot 2. I don't see the need to play him at corner either, I think he would be of more value at safety. That's if we draft him.
Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, Jay Cutler and Vince Young are the QB's I would take but I would give a limb for Leinart.

#1 or 2
QB Matt Leinart
LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson

#3~8
DT Haloti Ngata, Jr.
DE Mario Williams, Jr.
LB AJ Hawk
LB Chad Greenway
LB Ahmad Brooks, Jr.
DB Jimmy Williams
LT Eric Winston
LT Jonathan Scott

I talked about this yesterday and Hawk makes a lot of sense but so does Ngata and Greenway. The thing about Williams is that he could be a guy that's good at corner or safety but not great at neither. For our 3-4 we need a playmaker at OLB and Hawk could be it.

Ozzy rules!!

I like your post. I think we will do two things. 1) Pick on neccesity. At this point, it seems QB. But Saban is going to be cutting A LOT of players. That's what this season is for, as he has stated. Finding out who's willing to play and be tough and who's not. So we may find ourselves in desperate need of many things for this draft. and 2) Pick the best player at the given time. Thats how we landed Ronnie Brown. He was the best player available, and you can see why. The guy is amazing, and Saban knew it. Saban knows the talent of a lot of these kids. We're definitly going to have some holes to fill, and Saban will take whoever is best for those holes and his upcoming scheme.

I have no doubt that whoever we draft, they are going to help this team win big in the future.

Leinart....that is all I want.

Brady Quinn would be a great consolation prize but I don't see him declaring for the draft.

After those two there are no other Q.B.'s I take in the top 15....even is the running back from Texas declared I pass on him.

I like what I've read about Greenway (have'nt seen a whole lot of him).

D'Brickashaw Ferguson would have been my second guy but he's slipped this year. Match that with our improved play from the tackle position and I think we pass on the O-line in the first round.

I think if we don't get Leinart or Quinn we go defense (linebacker) in the first.

Damn we have a lot of needs.:fire:

I think if leinart isn't here, saban could trade down for more pick and choose a LB or a CB and why not cutlerand landry in round 2 (with the pick get by trade down)

landry will be gone by rd 2. if there is no Leinart i think he might trade down but the 2 gusy i REALLY want are Ngata and AJ but i also want maybe 2 1st rders and pick up a Cutler and either a LB/CB/S with the 2nd 1st then use our 2nd for a C/Off. T then the 3rd on either DT or one of the two left from pick 2 in round 1.

I love this years draft! there are atleast like 8 players I would love to seen a Fin next year, and it is guarenteed we will get one of them! :D

I hope we can convince the 1st overall pick's possessor to fork it over for something reasonable so we can draft Leinart. Dunno about Hawk though, unless we get a mid-range pick, I don't think it's worth going LB so high up in the draft. We've gotten exceptional value from LB's drafted in later rounds like ZT, Crowder, Pope, Bua. Likewise for the last 3. Only a QB, RB, or WR, and possibly an OLineman should be taken if it's a really high pick. But since we're solid at RB and WR, just QB and OL, preferrably QB.

Well I vote no on drafting A.J Hawk. I watched him play some this year. It's true he is good but not good enough to take him over the other major needs they have on the team.

I like your list, though I really don't much want the Dolphins to draft Leinart and I particularly hope we don't give away anything to trade up to get him.

I do have to ask, though, what makes you thnk D'Brickashaw would have to move to ORT? I really don't see that happening.

And I do think that people undervalue the signifigance of a five star left tackle. Having an all-star left tackle would help the team as much as having a four-star QB.

If you can get a five-star QB, take it and run. Just much harder to predict than a tackle. And a much bigger risk.

I'm just going to hope that Brady Quinn declares.
