I know the Ravens and Charges used Supplemental picks in 2007, but dont those officially count as a 2008 pick (since it is a 2008 pick used)?
Obviously, NE forfeited their pick with the SPYGATE stuff.
I looked at past drafts, and Supplemental picks the year before don't count as a draft pick the next year. For example, when we used a 5th round pick in July 05' on Manny Wright, we forfeited our 5th round pick in 2006.I get your logic here, but I was thinking the NFL would announce the pick (for example, the Pats pick), and then announce that it was forfeited. That way the draft slot is still there, but there isn't actually a draft pick. I'd love to see us benefit from teams forfeiting picks, but I don't know if that will actually happen. That also keeps things fair for the other 31 teams.
The 5th round went like this:
148. Green Bay
- Miami
149. Minnesota.
Also looking at the list, it ends at 255 picks. So the Ravens, Chargers and Patriots do NOT count as picks in 08'. Hence the reason why the total drops to 253 and the Dolphins and Rams will have the last two picks in the draft.
