Former Texans offensive lineman Steve McKinney plans to sign with Miami today and expects to start working out at the Dolphins' facility Monday.

The 6-4 305 McKinney can play either guard or center and before tearing his acl during the Colts game had played in every game for the Texans in their six year history.

FYI: Steve is the older brother of former Dolphins Seth McKinney.

all this depth can do nothing but make us more competitive

I like the Depth and he provides a solid veteran behind Satele and can back up at LG & RG.

haha i thought we signed seth mckinney at first because hes nothing but a back up anyways but hopefully his brother can be just as good or better than he was.

i think its a good move cause we need a backup for satele and he may end up starting at guard if murphy and thomas aren't ready..experience and depth..

Steve has always been better than Seth, and plays with a mean streak.

Steve has always been a solid, good player in this league. It's the injury that's worrisome, hence why he's available so cheaply.

Oh! God! Please let it be the latter!!!!!!!!

Jesus lets hope this guy is nothing more than a backup... David Carr was behind this clown and that O-Line ruined Carrs carrer by having im get sacked 15 times per game.

Don't put Beck or Henne behind this guy!

Ladies and gentlemen, our starting left guard.

McKinney should not be the sole recipient of blame for the Texans offensive line struggles. He is a very good player. It does, however, take more than one good offensive lineman to protect a QB, especially one as incompetent as David Carr.

these are the type of players who fill out the roster and increase competitive situations

Good move if the ACL is going to be OK

The release of Drew Mormino makes the need for o-line depth increasingly obvious.

Most teams in the NFL like to keep seven good linemen. Five starters and two backups. One of the back ups is usually a versatile player that can play center and guard like McKinney, and the other is a swing tackle which is someone that can play LT and RT. McKinney is that veteran player we need so I really like the signing.

Now I just wonder: "Who are we gonna sign that's gonna play swing tackle?"

He's good depth. And after seeing how Carr performed in Carolina, and how with Schaub and Rosenfels the Texans line looked much better overnight, I think Carr was more the reason for those sacks. He holds the ball way to long, just like Rob Johnson used to do. McKinney is a great backup at this time in his career. If the knee is okay, and I'd say it is since we cleared him, this is an upgrade at depth.

David Carr ruined David Carr's career.
