Looks like the hubbub with Mare has died down. He was not asked to take a paycut - but rather to restructure to make sure he finishes his career as a dolphin.

So if Olindo is saying in the paper [that he has been asked to take a pay cut], he shouldn't be. He swears to me he's not, but I know it keeps ending up in the paper.'

I hope Mare stays with the team he is a great all around kicker.

Didn't he just re-structure like two seasons ago? I want to keep him in a fins uniform and think he'll re-structure again if asked.

yea we cant cut him, all the good kickers are gone...

plus hes been a dolphin a long time.

I'm happy with this news. No other good kickers out there, and Mare did have a better season last year.

And this also shows Saban does respect his veterans while trying to build the team!

good ol' mare, glad to hear things are working out. hopefully we can keep him hear for his career. like what shouldve happened w/pete stoyonavich. i was too young to remember exactly what happened, but one year i just saw him playing w/the chiefs. i asked my mom wtf happened why isnt he a dolphin? and she says he must've left.

i must've missed it where did vanderjagt go?

He is now

do you guys really think sabans intentions are so that he finishes his career in miami? how long do Kickers last anyways? someone said earlier miami has let go of their kickers once they reach their 7th year. wow so more money cleared up means more signings. Adams/jackson, lavar, harrington/collins/maddox/martin. ill take that.

Dolphins | More from Saban on Mare's contract

Dolphins | More from Saban on Mare's contract

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said the Dolphins have not asked PK Olindo Mare to take a pay cut but are trying to ''restructure'' his contract so he can finish his career in Miami. "I guess what we're trying to do is develop some kind of strategy that would allow some of the players on our team right now to have an exit strategy in terms of their contract so they could guarantee themselves an opportunity to be Miami Dolphins the rest of their pro career, and in doing that not make them sacrifice a tremendous amount relative to what's fair and what they earn. So if Olindo is saying in the paper (that he has been asked to take a pay cut), he shouldn't be. He swears to me he's not, but I know it keeps ending up in the paper," said Saban.
