Merged: 49ers Kory Sheets headed to Dolphins

San Francisco 49ers' beat writer Matt Maiocco is reporting on Twitter that practice squad running back Kory Sheets has been picked up by the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins had an opening after they found out Patrick Cobbs is out for the season.

Our View: Sheets was in the locker-room packing up his things, so it looks like he is on his way out. Running backs seem to thrive in Miami, so this could end up being a great move for him. Don't expect him to play much, but the rookie could learn a lot from guys like Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.

Sheets was signed to the 53 man roster. You can't take a guy off one team's practice squad and put him on yours. Hilliard is going to be #3, but Sheets is #4. I don't know much about Sheets, but he seems to be in the build of Cobbs.

I'm not sure of the exact rules, but you can't steal a player off a practice squad only to put him on your own. He has to be on the 53.

I dunno, but I just have this gut feeling with the trade deadline coming up, this being our bye week and the fact the the team has made a 360 on the season. i wouldn't be surprised one bit... matt roth and a draft pick for dwayne bowe ?

remember:
1- those guys play a 3-4 defence
2- we've done 2 deals already with the chiefs, for obvious reasons, why not a third one ?
3- we need a WR... look what it can do to a rookie QB (edwards with sanchez)


the thing is... the price will probably be very high on bowe...

I would like to see him as our 3rd. Although Hilliard will be our 3rd. Good thing for sheets is if he does really good tony might change that.
