That sucks. I liked Thompson.
 
im glad... i thought it was kinda ****ed up to put him on IR and not let him at least try to get on another team or play anywhere this entire year... im sure his hamstring is only gonna have him out for 2-3 weeks...

Eaxact opposite in fact. IR players DO NOT COUNT against the roster. Look at the fins official roster. Kevin Vickerson does not take up a spot. Why? Because he is on IR. Will Poole? Doesn't take up a spot because he isn't on the active roster. Heck, Ricky Williams on the suspended list isn't taking up a spot right now. You have to be active and basically suited up in order to count.

D.Thompson released

I read my local paper this morning that Derrius was released. Does anyone know what's up with this? Did we pick someone else up. Sorry if this is late news.
 
he was originally put on IR and then they reached a settlement and he was released. He will probably catch on with another team. I think saban likes welker at WR. Did you guys see tim dwight catch the quick td from brady last night? I think welker is the same type of guy. We can hit him on some crossing patterns and reverses.

I was thinking the exact thing....
 
Yes, I think Welker and Dwight are very similar players.

As for Thompson, while he made that great catch to beat New England last year, that's really the only major contribution he made during his two seasons with the Dolphins. I don't think his presence will be missed much.
 
Welker is a utility guy. Saban likes utility guys that he can use in multiple situations.

Thompson is just a WR - and not a very good one.

I think they're similar as well and can be used in similar situations. Unfortunately, Welker doesn't have the speed that Dwight does. Man, that guy is fast!
