John Clayton says it's "clear" that Steelers G Alan Faneca is angling to get the team to move him.

Clayton drops an interesting tidbit that Faneca actually showed up for a meeting before Pittsburgh minicamp, then left the next night. The Steelers probably won't want to pay him market value and he's hitting a contract year, so it's possible they could deal him.

What would you guys be willing to deal. How much would a Pro Bowl guard cost us.....

the guy would SOLVE our problem at LG. id sign him up...5 years, whatever million. then u can let Toledo and that other guy battle for RG with Shelton. keep the top 2, deal away with 3rd one.

I'd offer a 4th, but it would most likely take a 3rd to get him. It would all hinge on him redoing a contract first though.

If we had a chance to get Faneca...I would certainly hope the Phins take a VERY hard look at him. He is without a doubt one of the THE BEST guards, heck, OLineman in the NFL. If the price is reasonable and affordable by Miami, pull that trigger without hesitation.

We don't really need a Guard, especially if we have to give something valuable for him, even one as good as Faneca...well unless the Steelers are willing to take one of our 6th or 7th round picks for him. :)

And we pay him 40 mil over how many years like the rest of the guards are getting this off season, I don't think we even stiff at him..

Faneca is an athletic guard just beggining to play in this prime of his career. He will be good for us for about 4-6 years and hopefully he can retire here if he is able to match his performance and pay.

If we actually had a problem at L-Guard, then yes, but our main problem lies at L-tackle, and Center. We get a Center, Hadnot or Shelton can take over the L-Guard position.

If we are planning to run the ball more often. We need some quality players up front.

LT is likely to be Alabi. Left Guard Toledo. Center hadnot right guard shelton and right tackle Carey.

We have some experience with center, right tackle and right guard which shelton made a fine transition last year.

I rather add seneca if possible.

Two years ago, with pretty much not much talent on the o-line, we ran the ball at will (Had two RBs with I believe 4.2 or 4.4 yards a carry), last year even with an O-coordinator that was scared to use a RB that was averaging 4.2 carry, and not much of a passing game to speak of, Brown still ran for 1000 yards.

Step 1 is to get better at O-line, but if Miami can do it by not putting to much of a strain on the salary cap, that is even better.

Miami right now has a servicable O-line, If Alabi turns out to be as good as the Coaching staff thinks, or we can draft a better L-tackle, and we also get a better CENTER (Whether by Draft or another exp NFL Linemen), this becomes a better Line, then if we get a very expensive Guard.
