Merged: Another swipe at the fans, is it really this bad?

The problem is, there are too many damn Bostonions and New Yorkers living in South Florida... I doubt there are many Pittsburgh people living in Baltimore.

I moved to South Florida in 1993 from New York I was a Giants Fan.When I moved I decided that South Florida is now my new Hometown and for that reason I support all the local South Florida teams its a matter of hometown pride.I was not going to support a team I had no connection with anymore just out of tradition.I live here and love South Florida so I show love for the hometown teams. Now my New York friends call me a traitor and not a real New Yorker.I tell them if you love and want to support New York so much you should move back there.

The design of Sun Life Stadium sucks too. When the seats sit a mile away from the action, it doesn't make it any kind of homefield advantage.

Hey it was that way back in the Shula years the fans in Miami just do not come out as much as up North. This has nothing to do with here and now. Like I said ealier in a post probably just demographics and the heat. Foot means soccor to many of the fans in the Miami area and has for some time.

Now that is a point we were unbeatable at the Orange Bowl and so were the Canes but since moving to Sunlike many years ago that home field advantage greatly dimished even with the 1 pm games . Go back and look at the stats and what I say is true. This Sun life statdium has not been good to the Dolphins compared to the Old Orange Bowl.

Build a better team and Front Office... and the fans will come!!!

The one thing I'm afraid will happen is Steven Ross saying "we cant be profitable in this market" and move the team, instead of looking in the mirror and saying "if I can build them a winning franchise, our fans will come back"

Don't forget what SoFla is. There's a hell of a lot more to offer than a Dolphins game. Just sayin'.

The best way to stop this is putting us in the AFC South. You lose the rivalry games between the Jets and Pats . . . but with Jville and Houston relatively new and the Colts not as travelsome as the Pats/Jets . . . it would fix the problem immediately.

Yes, we know, it sucks that other fans come in our stadium . . . its how it is down here. There are New Yorkers, New Englanders and Carribbean people all over. They either watch Jets/Pats or soccer. Stereotype or not, its the damn truth.

Okay this is a problem for many teams. Several years ago the season ticket sales were around 60,000 and have been in decline ever since. If you don't believe that it's becoming a league wide issue with the exception of a handful of teams, then look at theredzone.org today and there's an article about how bad ticket sales are in Buffalo. Jacksonville has been slack in ticket sales also, I went to a game there against the Dolphins 2 years ago and the stadium was less than half full! This isn't just a Miami issue like it's played out to be so let's stop the craziness!

I was at that game as well, Dolphin fans definitely traveled well but I gained alot of respect for the Jville fanbase. People outright told me how bad the economy is up there but you can tell they really have some diehard fans. It is an issue for alot of teams, I tell you that. I don't think the stadium was less than half full but it definitely wasn't full.

Just wearing aqua and orange is not enough reason
you got to show the league you are a real team
and put a winning product on the field
sorry to say most people don't likes losers
most people wanna be with the winners..
new england and new york fans have something to cheer about
phili fans something to cheer about with aggressive free agency and hitting on vick
Steeler fans should be happy getting back to multiple superbowls
Baltimore fans something to cheer about with the best defense and flacco
all these teams have won recently.

Most teams have bandwaggoners that is just part of sports culture
You want more fans win them over...

Sadly if the attendance plummets further that may be a viable option. Unthinkable, but possible

Funny, despite what many have been saying for a long time now, there are still some on this board that refuse to acknowledge the coaching staff is a problem...

One of these problems can directly lead to the other.
What is funny is that you think this is a problem that only came up under this regime. Wake up, this has been a problem for over a decade and as DefensiveEnd76 mentioned, the fact that playoff games don't always get sold out is a major problem.

This problem didn't just pop up recently under Sparano, those dates back many regimes, likely back even into the Shula years. The Dolphins were 11-5 and made the playoffs in 2008, these problems existed then. The Dolphins didn't sell out their playoff game in 2000 against the Colts. Don't tell me winning or a regime change will fix these problems, that is ridiculous to even suggest. It was a a mini-Foxboro on Monday, and as a Dolphins fan it is extremely embarrassing. I don't care if the 2012 Dolphins have Bill Cowher as head coach with Andrew Luck as QB, this will still be a problem. People bash Ross because he does things like bringing in celebrities and the whole Orange carpet thing, but until the local fan base improves, who can blame him for these gimmicks. He is a smart businessman.

It boils down to the "real hardcore" Dolphin fans are average bluecollar working class people who have families and find if financially more effective to watch the game at home. The people who have money and can afford to go the games aren't these "hardcore" Dolphin fans and show up only when the team is playing well. It is what it is. Truth be told, if Miami is winning the stadium is packed, if they aren't the stadium isn't packed. Factor in rival fans only have to focus money on one game a year . . . hell its easy for them to fill up SunLife stadium.

People have to realize those fans aren't going away, they LIVE here and plan for this one game while Dolphin fans plan around 8 games.
