Ricky throws jabs at phins again-talks about opposing teams filling our stadium
6. Ricky Williams doesn’t miss being a Dolphin.
Finally, a talking point from our old friend Ricky, who is having the time of his life up in Baltimore, apparently.
Williams joined Channing Crowder on WQAM 560-AM on Wednesday afternoon, three days after rushing for 63 yards on 12 carries (5.3 average) in the Ravens’ big win over Pittsburgh. And Williams raved about the Ravens’ organization while also making a couple back-handed swipes at the Dolphins.
First, Williams said he loves the way coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron go easier on the veterans in practice than they do the younger players, suggesting that that wasn’t the case in Miami.
“It’s nice to be treated like a vet. I’m loving it,” Williams said. “I find myself pinching myself and laughing sometimes. Coach says, ‘We’d rather have you fresh for the game.’ I started laughing, like, ‘Is he being for real?’”
Williams also said the stadium atmosphere in Baltimore is much different than it is in Miami.
“I really enjoy playing at the stadium up here. It’s crazy – every game is sold out,” he said. “So there are minimal Steelers fans in the crowd. One thing I didn’t like about Miami, when they have those rivalry games against the Jets, sometimes there’d be just as many Jets fans in our stadium than there were Dolphins fans. It’s really nice to experience a rivalry when you have so much fan support on your side.”
Williams’ family still lives in Miami, however, and he said he will continue to do regular radio appearances down here.
“I still want to keep some kind of contact with Dolfans and my life in Miami,” he said.
