Ricky throws jabs at phins again-talks about opposing teams filling our stadium

6. Ricky Williams doesn’t miss being a Dolphin.
Finally, a talking point from our old friend Ricky, who is having the time of his life up in Baltimore, apparently.
Williams joined Channing Crowder on WQAM 560-AM on Wednesday afternoon, three days after rushing for 63 yards on 12 carries (5.3 average) in the Ravens’ big win over Pittsburgh. And Williams raved about the Ravens’ organization while also making a couple back-handed swipes at the Dolphins.
First, Williams said he loves the way coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron go easier on the veterans in practice than they do the younger players, suggesting that that wasn’t the case in Miami.
“It’s nice to be treated like a vet. I’m loving it,” Williams said. “I find myself pinching myself and laughing sometimes. Coach says, ‘We’d rather have you fresh for the game.’ I started laughing, like, ‘Is he being for real?’”
Williams also said the stadium atmosphere in Baltimore is much different than it is in Miami.
“I really enjoy playing at the stadium up here. It’s crazy – every game is sold out,” he said. “So there are minimal Steelers fans in the crowd. One thing I didn’t like about Miami, when they have those rivalry games against the Jets, sometimes there’d be just as many Jets fans in our stadium than there were Dolphins fans. It’s really nice to experience a rivalry when you have so much fan support on your side.”
Williams’ family still lives in Miami, however, and he said he will continue to do regular radio appearances down here.
“I still want to keep some kind of contact with Dolfans and my life in Miami,” he said.

Ricky is bitter, because they did not sign him and thought that sorry Larry Johnson was better. I would be bitter too. As a matter of fact I would be flat out pissed off.

wrong timeline.

Ricky just being right. I went to a game in Baltimore once, I wish we had that type of home field. People need to stop complaining about ex-players speaking the truth about Miami fans. The guy was here for a long time, this isn't sour grapes, this is him telling the truth.

Our home field sucks.

Ricky's honesty was always his best attribute. He will be honest no matter what 58 year old forum troll face painter fan thinks.

I like it.

Hmmm. This is the same guy who retired in his prime, failed who knows how many drug tests, has had a love/hate relationship with Dolfans since 2003. I thought we could finally move on from him. I have a lot of fond memories of Ricky, and a lot of bad ones. Just wish he would be quiet and focus on his own team.

I don't think anyone can disagree with Ricky regarding the fan situation. I live in NY and even though Dolfans can be seen, Jet fans definitely own that stadium when we play them. On the other hand, I have been to SoFla to see the Phins play the Jets and it seemed like it was 50-50. That's bothersome to me. No real home field advantage. I hope it's because we haven't been winning of late but it is disappointing.

I have to agree with him too, I live in syracuse, NY and came down for the ravens regular season game in 2008, it was probably 70% phins fans and 40% raven fans and thats not even a rival game, it should have been 95% miami fans and 5% raven fans.

I am SO sick of this line of thought and criticism. The reason Miami has attendance/fan issues is because 80% of the population here are transplants and PRIMARILY from New York and New England areas. Do we expect all of those people to change their life long sports loyalty just because they move here? PLEASE!

I think the fact that we STILL sell out as much as we do is a testimony to our fans. We sell out despite having a fraction of the local fan base that New York and other major towns. Come on man..its not apples to apples. I think the % of native citizens who support this team is HIGHER than any other town. So give me a break with this worn out philosophy. Its bogus and always has been.
Thank you! This is getting so old. If out-of-staters are so annoyed about it, pack up your **** and move to Miami instead of crying about it CONSTANTLY.

It's kinda funny, the same people who wouldn't dare criticize the team and coaching staff under any circumstances have no problem whining about the fan base on a regular basis, yet they absolutely refuse to see any kind of correlation in that aspect (one of many that are the cause of any sellout problems).

doesnt help that half of south florida is from NY or Boston.

Hmmm, been saying that for a long time now. There are some that still refuse to acknowledge that there is a problem with the local fan base.

Who cares if they don't acknowledge it? Who cares if they do? Nothing can be done, some people just like to take jabs and say "oh well buy some damn tickets" but really since we are infested by the North, these people sell their souls to get tickets for the 1 time a year, or every 3 years their team plays in south florida.

I don't think it's jabs at Miami really, it's the truth after all.

Even with a full Fin house the architecture of our stadium does not allow for thunderous quaking as that of the ol' O Bowl.

It's simply just hard to cheer. We hold our breath in anticipation for an eternity of an offseaon only to have to swallow it once more. I don't know about you, but close after the conclusiong of that first drive, I got a visit from Miami-Dades finest this past Monday. Apparently, I was complained about. And after that first drive? I couldn't muster 1 single peep- not even a negative one.

I'll talk smack all week and come Sunday, I'll be that school boy once more. I'll even talk to a ghost, "Tonights the night, pops, we're turning it all round this yeaR." But it's ThUrsday and I am LUCID. it's obvious, you can already tell that the change is minor and their is nothing to cheer about.

"You're so damn negative, IluvjuMiami." I see what I see. If I had seen an honest change of philosophy, despite a loss, excitement would prevail. But it's A perfumed turd BEING LAYED out there is what we have and unless you're the one laying it, I see no reason to be loud.
