Merged: Another swipe at the fans, is it really this bad?

I am SO sick of this line of thought and criticism. The reason Miami has attendance/fan issues is because 80% of the population here are transplants and PRIMARILY from New York and New England areas. Do we expect all of those people to change their life long sports loyalty just because they move here? PLEASE!

I think the fact that we STILL sell out as much as we do is a testimony to our fans. We sell out despite having a fraction of the local fan base that New York and other major towns. Come on man..its not apples to apples. I think the % of native citizens who support this team is HIGHER than any other town. So give me a break with this worn out philosophy. Its bogus and always has been.

God the excuses...

In hostile territory! I'll reiterate, you guys don't know how lucky you are; Sunlife stadium is right down the street...

it is crap that those people come to the phins stadium, but winning solves all problems, the fair weather fan buys the tickets with winners
same thing in all places even philly, been to plenty of eagles games when they sucked and was half and half, went to shulas record breaker and was half phins fans, so you just have to win

Hmmm, been saying that for a long time now. There are some that still refuse to acknowledge that there is a problem with the local fan base.

The problem even you refuse to acknowledge is that 50% of football fans in south florida arent even from south florida........... get it thru your heads people !!!!!!!!!!!! It is what it is.... but don't fault the people who live in south florida and support the phins, just because they're barely a majority.

God the excuses...

So how did you become a phins fan if your so unfamiliar with South Florida ? Have you ever even come down for a game ? If you had, I think you'd know better. You did chose this team, now deal with it !!
I grew up a dolphin fan in jersey .... finally moved to down here. About 25% of the people i've met grew up in florida. If you haven't mingled and worked down here than you have no idea of the diversity. When I go to a dolphins game I go with my buddies, all giants, jets, steelers, patriots, eagles, bears, browns fans, no lie..... this is beautiful south florida. people plan vactions to see their team play down here... I could go on and on... but these are all excuses to you guys. When you see them all on the screen, just know that they supported the dolphins when you and I couldnt. Well, financially at least.;)

You do realize that the problem is with the people that post on here? The majority (note, not all, but the majority) that take the time to post on a fan message board are the type that DO go to the games and have season tickets (if they can afford them). The ones being whined about either have never been to a fan message board or check it out on a rare occasion (so it really makes these topics pointless). Those are the ones that fill most of the seats, not the diehards. As awesome as we all are, we are fewer than the max stadium attendance.

The 76ers know all about it. Here is an interesting article:
http://247wallst.com/2011/09/14/the-12-major-league-sports-teams-running-out-of-fans/2/

There appears to be a team missing from that list, which is shocking considering all these threads...

seems like sour grapes to me

whats going on in the stands should have zero effect on how you perform on the football field
It is moronic beat writers like omar kelly looking for a cheap story and excuse making..
Think about it if i owned a marketing company
and i told my top dogs hey you put up some pretty good #s last month
you deserve to see a dolphins game where you can witness what winning is all about..
If the dolphins were winning that place would be rocking..
Yes you would see bandwagoners people buying jerseys for the 1st time
People that never been to a game b4 start showing up because now the dolphins are the in thing the cool thing
The power of winning changes everything.. Losing sucks and is no fun winning is fun..

Ricky isnt a dolphin anymore, why is he on our nuts? Worry about the Ravens and the Mary Jane and leave us alone!

ummmm yes it is. Did you not here the 'D-FENSE' cheers when we had the ball?

I'm not sure why people are so surprised? It's been this way for a while.
same when we play the giants or Pittsburgh...I had tickets for 4 years and there really was never a game when there were not A CRAP TON of opposing fans...

In addition to all the transplants Miami is a destination. If you were a fan of the bengals or Titans or Bears and could travel to one game a year would you like to go to Miami or Cleveland or Pittsburgh?? Southern Florida has a lot to offer. But on the same note we start winning and season ticket sales cover a lot of this problem.

The fans have always been bad in Miami/South Florida. I am surprised it has taken fans so long to see it. I am also surprised how so many fans are shocked by this news.

The Dolphins didn't sell out a playoff game. In other cities fans spend 2 nights outdoor in front of a box office waiting to buy playoff tickets. Thats all you need to know

It's all about the home record. Dominate at home and fans have fun and want to go. Suck at home? Why would fans pay and put forth the effort vs. watching on TV.

The Bengals have a shot to be the most surprising 2-0 team in football if they can defeat a banged-up Broncos team on Sunday.Bengals fans should enjoy watching that game on television because they may not see a home game for a little while. The team has already announced a Week Three blackout for their game against the 49ers.
The fact the Bengals are announcing the blackout this early is a very bad sign for ticket sales the rest of the season. It indicates they aren’t remotely close to a sellout.

God those Bengals fans blow.

Not really true. The game sold out, IIRC, it did not sellout in time for it to be on TV. There is a difference....
