Sorry if this has already been posted. Story about Beck trying to step it up for this season.

"Parcells will offer advice to players. Beck said Parcells would sometimes stop him in the hallway and tell him a thing or two to help him get better. That could be a sign that Beck is fast becoming a Parcells guy."

It's a double edge sword with that comment people here tend to spin things in the direction that favors their stand point!

For instance one could say Parcels said that because he has ALOT to work on!

Pro Beck guys might say it looks like Beck is starting to win over Parcels!

This is what I know! The kid is doing everything he can to improve himself and Dolphins. He's a smart kid with a great work ethic. He has respect for himself and organization. He's everything you want your leaders to be! THAT'S WHY I'M PULLING FOR HIM!

Here's a quote from the article I use to make my case:

"I haven't heard that I wasn't a Parcells guy," Beck said earlier this month during a break from the team's minicamp. "I never thought I was the guy he didn't like. He didn't know me. So it was up to me to show him. A lot of people will say he's tough, that he's difficult, that he's a mean SOB. And he can be rough. But he wins football games. If I'm doing something he doesn't like he's going to tell me and I will change it. He's Bill Parcells. He knows better than me."

What you're saying is true, Lou. Sad, but true.

I read the whole article and it feels like the article says positive things about Beck. It praises a play in camp and a drive to improve. But the Beck bashers with spin it or use it for fuel to argue. Hell, the article says what it says. Pete Prisco is at least semi-credible. To the blind bashers, isn't it possible these things could be true?

I guess it all depends on what you want to hear. He seems to refuse to acknowledge that the other qb's have done some good things also so I guess you could line up 20 writers and get 10 differant opinions or more on who has looked good. You just hear too many conflicting reports to know who is credible.

Just because it says positive things about Beck, does not mean there are no positive things to say about the others. This article alone does not imply bad things about the others. Has Prisco shown a bias in the past or did he just simply write a positive Beck story and not a Miami QBs story?

These were his exact words from the article

It makes sense for Beck to start. Henne is a rookie who didn't look all that sharp the days I watched him practice. McCown didn't either, and he's a veteran who is little more than a stopgap.

So thats his opinion and we have heard differing opinions from many writers. I was not making this a Beck versus anybody thread but he had nothing but negatives about the other qb's thats all.

I could not have said it better myself. Heck, I don't know who is best equipped to start for this team. Thats for the Coaching staff to decide. But, before we drafted Beck, I knew nothing of this kid. Just a highlight or name mentioned during a sportscenter highlight. But, I have went back and watched some of his games, did a little research, and I have found myself pulling for him. He has, from most reports, displayed a very dedicated work ethic to get better. I have yet to see an interview that he has done, although I haven't read them all, where I was not impressed with the type of person he seems to be. Yeah, I'm pulling for him.

Well if i was thrown to the wolves as a rookie. I would want to do EVERYTHING in my power to show i was better then show originaly. Expecialy if i knew i was better than that.

I like the work ethic that Beck has shown this offseason, and I think the competition at QB will bring out better play at the position regardless of who the starter is.

But when reading the observations given on McCown and Henne, keep in mind that it is still Pete Prisco writing the story, and he has about as much football knowledge as Martha Stewart. The fact that he still has a job as a writer keeps me wondering how much CBS really cares about their NFL coverage.

I will say this, If Beck beats out the others, he will have earned my respect.
