Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Ronde Barber has been fined $30,000 by the NFL for striking official Butch Hannah during a scuffle in the Week 5 game against the New York Jets Sunday, Oct. 9. Barber, who was not ejected from the game, said his intent was not to strike the official, but to defend himself and swat Jets C Kevin Mawae's hand off of his facemask. Barber is expected to appeal the fine. "

wow only 30,000 i was expecting a 75,000 for punching a ref in the face wheather it was intensional or not
 
if it was a dolphin it would be 100000 and a suspension

you know thats right. If Tampa were playin the jets under this circumstance, he would be suspended for sure. Oh well.......looks like we just kick them in the *** anyways!
 
Damn, that means it's going to be Ronde and BK covering Chambers and Booker, would've been a HUGE loss is Barber wasn't able to play. Now we'll just have to wait and see what's up with Cadillac.
 
Yeah I kind of figured he'd play. If he was not kicked out of the game, then I somehow figured the league would not suspend him.

I personally think hitting a ref with fist (intentional or not) should be fined and suspended.

Juran Bolden will be up on Marty Booker. Ronde will be mostly on McMicheal with Quarles helping out.
 
no way ronde covers mcmike, your telling me your not oging to put your best corner on chambers..? chambers may struggle against top competition but against a 2 or nickel corner...watch out
 
Well they took into consideration what kind of guy Ronde is as well.
Hes known for being an all around great guy on the field and off. If it were an intentional hit he would have been benched for multiple games. However there is not a single person out there that can tell me you think Ronde Barber intentionally dropped that Ref. I mean thats just rediculous.

He was fined because its the rule, not because they felt he deserved it.
 
its ok guys look on the bright side maybe ronde could punch one of the refs... and fins will get flagged less

Ronde is rarely matched man up on top WR's. He makes his living in zone coverage watching the QB's eye's. Quarles is more likely to play McMicheal man, and Ronde will play zone.
