MERGED: Brandon Fields signs 4 year, $13 million extension

Fields and Carpenter are solid and the coverage teams were much improved last year. I believe they finish rated #2 . if either Miller or Thigpen can become a big threat on kick returns and punts that unit should be great this year.
Good D. Solid special teams. Offense a work in progress. That's where we stand.
 
Fields, Dolphins agree to four-year extension

The Miami Dolphins and punter Brandon Fields finalized a four-year contract extension Saturday that makes Fields the fifth-highest paid punter in the league, his agent has announced.

Fields will be paid $13.3 million over the course of the deal, including $3.3 million in guaranteed money. Fields, 28, was in the final year of his current contract, earning $1.4 million in base salary.

Fields (and Soliai) turned out to be the only decent draft picks from the Cam Cameron draft. We didn't recognize it at the time.
Interesting to note that Fields consistently improved his average punt distance each year.

carpenter can be replaced imo. guy is good but wasnt very consistant last year
 
We must be the only team that pays its punter more than the starting QB.
 
Money well spent, dude's been nothing but clutch for us. Now let's hope he does a lot less to earn it while Philbin and Sherman are here. :D

ST should rock this year, good punter, good kicker, disciplined units, and better return units.

Bush, Miller, Pruitt, and/or the Thigpen's of the world should provide some exciting returns. No more Bess and Gates.
