Actually, his situation in Philly didn't reflect his ability. He is better then their backup KD. Koy made more money, and was a established backup when A J was drafted. Koy doesn't have starting potential, and he knows it. A. J on the other hand, does. The Eagles intended on giving A. J a first round tender this year, that would have pushed his salary above Koy, and that would have made some people uneasy.
Bottom line, he wasn't going to be the starting QB for Philadelphia, when they are giving McNabb 115m.
In comparisons to Fiedler, he was also a 3rd string quarterback for Philly, and released. Huge difference, they were willing to give Feeley first round money, they just cut Jay.
A. J is a starting caliber quarterback. He learned 1 of the most complicated offenses in the NFL while playing for Philly, and when called upon, he executed shockingly well. He's a fan favorite, and that's not easy in Philly.
Ramsey on the other hand has never learned a pro offense. That fun and gun garbage they tried, and failed in Washington doesn't cut it in the NFL. Ramsey and Feeley are similar in athletic ability, but that's where it stops. A. J has proven he can execute in an NFL offense, and lead his team to the playoffs.
He will need some O-Line help though. And he has the luxury of Ricky Williams, something Philly never had. He also has a quick release, and makes average receivers look better.
I'm very excited about the trade, and look forward to watching him play, and giving Miami a decent quarterback, finely.
